Just throwing this tip out there. I was doing a 3-minute treasure hunt with Bubbles, and I didn't find it in time. I did talk to her, she said that she won, then turns out the treasure was still in its spot so I went ahead and dug it out. The game didn't let me open it of course, but I couldn't drop it, sell it, or even give it back to Bubbles. It was stuck in my inventory, and I was really scared because I got the impression that it was a glitch.
Turns out, there is a way to get rid of it. You will have to restart the game. It'll now be called "What was this again?" (they really assumed that I would forget about it?) and you could either drop it or take it to Timmy and Tommy. Problem solved - no more paperweight items in your inventory.
Honestly I think they should've let me give the treasure back to whoever hid it, regardless of whether or not I found it in time. Granted, I wouldn't want to know what was inside if I lose, lol. But oh well - your loss, Bubbles.
