Anyone use/recommend the 8bitdo snes pro controller? How's the feel?

I use it for 2D games and it feels fantastic, very much like the SNES controller. I wouldn’t want to use it for 3D games, tho.

It's great. After a while I got so used to it I even started using it for BOTW. It's also my favourite controller for MK8.

Extra advantage: I can use it for some retrogaming on my cell phone or MacBook.

I finally googled this to see how it looks... how are they allowed to make it look like a replica Nintendo controller?

It works very well and is comfortable to use. But it's a tad noisy when it vibrates. I have actually been using it with my PC more, since I have 2 Switch Pro Controllers.

I have XBox One's controller, and thinking a little to buy this one for trip purpose (since sometimes I need to go home for a while, and Xbox One's are... kinda big)

Is it good for going on trip?

@darkfenrir I like it a lot for trips because unlike official Nintendo controllers, it does not turn on every time the L/R buttons are pressed draining the battery. Also it wont turn my Switch on in my case if something manages to hit the home button.

@Heavyarms55 sounds good! Do you use it for any Steam games by chance? Want to know how it feels on that

@darkfenrir While I have it connected to my PC, I haven't actually loaded up any steam games recently. Most of my gaming has been on the Switch. On the PC I have been using it with a DS emulator to play the Pokemon rom hack "Storm Silver" (basically Soul Silver hard mode with full gen 4 national Pokedex obtainable). On the emulator it works great, much better than a keyboard.

I can test it tonight after work and let you know how it goes with steam games. I certainly have plenty.

@Heavyarms55 Ayy, thank you! Just give a tag when you are done

That sounds great though, maybe I really should give some of those emulators another eye with this...

@darkfenrir Will do. I get off work in about 4 hours. Just FYI about the DS emulator in specific DeSume, it eats RAM way more than it rightfully should. No idea why. If you can run big games on Steam you should have no issues, but figured I would mention that. A few years ago I tried running it on my old laptop and it would barely work usually pushing the 4GB ram to the max for for some programming reason I don't understand. (my current PC runs that no problem, but then, I have 16GBs now, not 4 lol)

@Heavyarms55 Gotcha, mostly thinking of something like those Wii emus or maybe PSP's...

For the steam games I'll mostly need it for something like Okami HD / Tales of Berseria for example off the top of my head.

darkfenrir

Heavyarms55

@darkfenrir In that case your PC should be more than up to the task. lol

@Heavyarms55 yup, I'm glad I upgraded (It's all because of a game that finally tips me off though).

How hard is it to update the firmware? Just plug the controller in, run the update?

darkfenrir

Heavyarms55

@darkfenrir Well I was just testing it with Borderlands the Pre-sequel and a couple other games I had never uninstalled. It works well, but buttons are mapped as though it were an Xbox 360 controller, which threw me off for a moment. That might be because of leftover settings from previously using a 360 controller on this PC.

As for firmware, I have honestly not bothered to update it. But I believe you just go to their website and follow the instructions.

@Heavyarms55 Ooo, considering I have been already using Xbox One's controller, should be fine for me... (other than I still mistake press certain buttons at Xbox's style :') )

And gotcha, thank you for the help!
