@NintendoWife Not really, remember WW NSO is Switch 2 only, so a dual release for Switch 1 on anniversary year makes total sense and have a Switch 2 resolution update so the game doesn't look blurry is all that is needed!

@Bats1234 I don’t disagree that it would be great, I’m just trying to view it from Nintendo’s perspective. To get an idea if it’s likely coming or not. If they were preparing WW 4K it seems they would have held back OG WW on NSO.

And the other point is that they don’t usually release several Zelda titles close to each other, so if WW was coming in a few months we should expect no other Zelda this year. And that would overall be a bit weak.

i would hope that they finally finish making Wind Waker,
but I wouldn't expect it, as they couldn't be bothered the last time.

@NintendoWife
I plan on it with the 60fps, 1440p & HDR support for the NS2 version. I still need to get back to BOTW. I want to recapture the same feeling I had when I initially played it 2-3 years ago during my first two sessions. It made me feel like a kid again. Loved the first 5-6 hours I threw into it. Not quite as much as Mario Oddyssey mind you, but it was a feeling that i just don't get quite too often with big AAA releases these days. And at that time I was fully on board with the idea of Zelda forgoing the tried and true 3D formula we all know and love with something entirely different. Change can be good after all.

Heck, some of the Shrine theme's almost sound like something out of Jim Henson's The Labyrinth which i loved quite a bit with my brief play time. But the overworld can be very daunting and intimidating factoring in the scope of it all compared to the 3D Zelda's that came before it, and i hate how it's soaked in mostly silence. It almost makes you feel like you're on some lonely fantastical camping trip adventure. lol

If Nintendo releases both WW HD & TP HD on Switch running at 60fps, I'm biting day one. I still haven't finished either. Wind Waker lost me half way through back in the Gamecube days. I had had enough of the sailing, tame difficulty and having to slowly cover what felt like 50x the ground vs the top down zelda's which are far more in and out, zippity and quicker to nagivate through, and the combat, imo, wasn't nearly as enjoyable as it was compared to LA or ALTTP. Visuals were a 10, the soundtrack was great and it reaked of charm, I'll give it that.

But surprisingly, Phantom Hour Glass which tends to get a bad wrap, is one of my favourite Zelda's of all time, aside from ALTTP & Links Awakening DX. The experience i had with that smoked WW, no question. I'll never forget one moment in particullar, when the game wanted you to randomly blow into the mic, to blow sand off of a map to discover whatever next location you needed to go to. Feature/gimmicks like that is what i loved so much about the DS Lite, Wii & first 1-2 years of the 3DS eras, they were a trio of innovation. But ya, PHG was an absolute treaure and complete breath of fresh air. And who doesn't love line back?

ALTTP, PHG & Links Awakening DX are my favourites in the series so far, followed up with Zelda II & the NES original. I've been gaming since the late 80's btw. 41 now, yet I've still managed to retain that child like spark and wonderment which is obviously essential when you're passionate & knee deep into the hobbie.

@NeonPizza Isn’t it crazy how everybody has different favourites? But I loved PH too. The successor Spirit Tracks had some real strenghths (some of the best dungeons, as I recall) but a major disappointment too: The lack of a real overworld thanks to the train tracks.

With WW and TP I’m in the opposite situation from yours, I’ve beaten both several times. TP in particular feels too familiar to replay it. But it’s one of the best.

As for your experience with BOTW, I shared the excitement, and still think it’s exceptional of course. I do remember one crucial moment of disappointment: When I realized that the shrines are all just self-contained puzzle boxes with no further connection to the game. Doesn’t matter when you play which, and there will never be a surprise or story bit or sequence or character inside. Once I understood that I was a bit deflated. Actually most of the game feels kinda ‘optional’ in the same way. I prefer a sequence of events written by someone with a great imagination.

But I do agree that change and progress is necessary! I’ve mostly been happy when my favourite series, Zelda and Mario, were reinvented over the decades. BOTW was the first “hmmmm not sure I like where this is going” moment.

I think wwhd is ruled out, Nintendo needed a game to entice customers into nso. Now that they're subscribed, they'll now charge us full price for twilight princess hd. The same happened with mario RPG, a game they could've easily put on nso, yet remade and sold. Plus I never thought wind waker and twilight princess were a double act. In fact putting them both together may not have worked well

I think if you own the original game on gamecube or wii u then emulate it. That provides a full next gen experience. I've watched videos on youtube with the game emulated on pc up to 8k with low input lag and consistent frame rates. It's the full upgrade experience and the graphics upscale brilliantly. Powerpc emulation is fairly difficult so the Gamecube games on Nintendo Online Switch 2 are only marginally upscaled with less consistent performance and high input lag. I think you can patch the Gamecube version for a true 60fps which is pretty amazing on emulators but I seem to remember it was more difficult to do that for wii u versions emulated. On dolphin you can play it on a 3D tv too or with a VR headset as it supports stereoscopic output.
