Hi guys. I am thinking about getting AC Shadows for Switch 2 when it releases. On the eShop, it said that game size is around 62GB, but another thing that I noticed is that it requires internet connection. Has anyone heard more about this? Was hoping to play in handheld mode when away from my internet connection. Thoughts and help appreciated
@OmegaX83 I think you'll be able to play it offline if you disable internet on the console. That's how Trials Rising works, that's ubisoft. Although, the game may complain initially with a prompt and say it wants internet connection, but if internet is disabled, I believe you should be able to cancel that prompt and proceed to play offline.
Hi again guys. Is AC Shadows worth getting on S2 if I already have the PC version? Was looking forward to playing game in handheld mode, but been reading that there are issues with performance and frame rate when undocked (I read the Review on here)? Thoughts appreciated
@OmegaX83 Every modern Ubisoft title “requires” internet to sync saves in their servers. You can continue to play in any platform of your choice which is great really. That said, the game won’t stop you from playing offline, it’ll just let you know that the connection is down or something like that.
Outside of busy areas, the game performance is pretty great on handheld. It’s docked that it’s weird, it’s 30fps but not quite, DF measured it and it seems Ubisoft’s FPS cap is not working as expected so it fluctuates around 30 which is a bit annoying if you’re sensitive to that.
The visuals in handheld mode are a bit downgraded though, particularly resolution which makes the game a bit blurry. Ubisoft is probably patching it soon. If you already own the game on PC and wish to play on the go, it’s not the best experience but it’s ok and you can take advantage of cross-platform save to jump between platforms.
Ever since I reached a certain point in the game around 15 hours in, the game is absolutely unplayable in docked mode. It crashes every 2 minutes. I tried everything that was shared online as tips to reduce crashes, nothing really works. It’s perfectly playable in portable mode though.
The game is amazing and I really want to play it, but this is ridiculous. Ubisoft needs to address this now!
