Topic: The Hong Kong Massacre unreliable savegame system

Anyone else experiencing problems with this game's save system?

It's happened before: I quit the game, after replaying a couple of levels for some stars and a weapon upgrade, only to come back and see it all gone. Maybe I did something wrong, or forgot what upgrade i got... So I did it over.
Last evening I was playing for hours to get all the challenge stars and weapon upgrades. I didn't dream it, I captured screenshots and video's throughout my frustrating but in the end satisfying bloody bullet ballet in the underbelly of Hong Kong. Being satisfied with all upgrades I called it a night.
That satisfaction was short lived, when I wanted to pick up where I left it, literally started by just loading my savegame from the still active main menu. All progress was gone. All the frustration for nothing.

It truly turned this otherwise awesome game into something terrible in my experience, in one second. It appears to me as if it only saves after completing a level for the first time or so, because my level progress is fine, I still beat the game in my savegame, only lost all the challenge and upgrade progress made after beating it. I always hated when a game doesn't communicate when it's saving or even have a manual "save" function, and this made it much, much worse.
