I have an SD card in my Switch. I was playing a game and tried to take a screenshot but it said "Could Not Save". When I went to the main menu and clicked on Album it said "Unable to Access the microSD card".

I still have all my save games on the card but the pictures and videos are gone. When I checked Data Management and clicked "Manage Screenshots and Video" it has next to my card Screenshots 0 Video 0. I cant even highlight microSD card. (Which is between System Memory and Manage Individual Images and Videos. Its shaded out so I cant click on it.

What happened and is there a way to get them back? I had like 700 images and videos.

Sounds like something might have got corrupted. Can you try putting your SD card into a computer and see if the screenshot and video files are still on it?

I think I need an adapter to use my SD card on my computer because I don't see a slot for it.
I'll pick one up this weekend.

I thought the card might be corrupted but all my saved games are OK. It's just the images and videos that are gone. When I try to open my album I get the 2802-1002 error.

Nintendo's site suggests that error code means something on the card might be corrupted.

Just to be clear, when you say saved games do you mean your save files, or games downloaded on the SD card? Your save files are always saved on the console's internal storage, so a corrupted SD card wouldn't affect them, but obviously downloaded games are another matter.

@The-Giant-Octopus It's rare, but sometimes Switch micro sd card readers go bad, and need replaced. On a positive note, I think that job is SUPER easy. It's like one screw and a ribbon plug, I think. (check youtube for switch repairs).

And, for clarity, game save data is not stored on the micro sd cards. Game save data is stored exclusively on switch internal memory. So, if your card turns out to be corrupted, you don't have to worry about losing game progress. (disregard if you know this already)

Sorry about the lateness of my reply, a family emergency came up. So I bought an adapter and checked my MicroSD card on my computer. Everything is in there. All my videos and screencraps.
So I don't understand why I can't access them on my Switch. Is the problem with the Switch or the card itself?

@The-Giant-Octopus When the micro sd card in my phone went bad, I could still see the file list, but it wouldn't it wouldn't let me watch the video files or copy large files off of it, even when I plugged that card it into a computer. If you can still open the micro sd card's picture and video files with a computer, then the micro sd card is probably fine.

I think you may need to confirm that the switch's micro sd card reader works with another card. (I believe the switch will insist you reformat the card to work on the switch. So, be sure you're ok with erasing the contents of the test card.)

OK. I'll pick up a new microSD card and see if it works on my switch.
