Ive just ordered a card reader for our nintendo switch. Ive only just noticed in the sale, that it says this is for the new version. I have the old version (2019). It looks exactly the same, but would it work in our one?. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks, Gary.

@tumble220 Based on what I've seen in the NL forum (joined here in 2017), there's a good chance this will go unanswered. I welcome being wrong, but I've never seen anyone talk about repairing a Switch in here. Just giving you a heads up

If someone here knows something, or a good resource, by all means, share.

Thanks for your reply. Apparently a few of them have a fault that it wont read the game cards and the card reader becomes faulty. Its not a bad job to change either.

@tumble220 Yeah, every once in a while someone here has mentioned card reader hardware failure, and needs to be replaced, but the discussions that I've seen never went into doing the job yourself.

I've been starting to get tempted to replace the battery on my launch day Switch. I've seen Spawn Wave do a tear down, but not much else. Is there a youtube guide you liked for replacing the card reader? ...just out of curiosity.

Yes there is. Ive took the old card reader out this morning. Took about 15 mins to remove it.
