Topic: Nintendo Store UK stole my money

I pre-ordered Bayonetta 3 Trinity Masquerade Edition from Nintendo Store UK. Royal Mail said they delivered it, when they didn't. I rang Nintendo Store UK and they investigated the matter - the item was returned to them (confirmed by their staff). However, it's been well over a month and they haven't refunded my money.

Whenever I ring them, they say sorry and they'll flag the issue as important, but all I get is an email saying they're investigating and that I should wait - what is there to investigate if the item is returned and in their hands?

It's been so long now and whenever I ring them, the same thing happens over and over like Groundhog Day. I'm really frustrated and have pumped so much money into the company for decades.

This is the worst customer service ever and my customer loyalty obviously means nothing to them.

I don't know what to do.

You could take them to court.

I've had a few issues with UK Nintendostore customer service, never helpful.

Maybe you stand a better chance with your card company?

I wouldn’t start with small claims. Contact your bank and see if you can arrange a chargeback under goods and services first.

@axemc - what he said. Do a charge back on your credit card.

I once ordered a book from amazon and it got stuck in the warehouse. I got my money back, but i'm still mad cause I have 2 and 3 of a book series and not 1.

@dew12333 yeah they are pathetic sometimes.

axemc

@Rambler thx I will. I’m just scared that they blacklist me from the site.

@Pizzamorg I’m worried they’ll blacklist me from the site. Sometimes it’s the only place to get limited editions.

@axemc If your not getting anywhere with Nintendo the only other option is going through your bank or Credit Card company. You should be able to file a fraudulent charge complaint. Your bank or CC will refund the money and go after Nintendo themselves.

It might be more expensive to go to court than just taking the hit on the game.

@axemc Had exactly the same thing with my N64 controllers, except Royal Mail never even got them, but they there also "returned" and then they sent out "replacements" which also got "returned" it took 2 months to get a refund, even though i fought with them to get replacements, but their policy is if they have "tried" twice and failed they have to give you a refund, when they can be bothered.

Nintendo Store UK seems to sell stock they don't have and then say it has been "returned to the warehouse"

I did carry on at them saying it was a formal complaint, and got a five pound voucher for my trouble, sorry but i wanted my controllers.

I AM ERROR

@Bunkerneath
That doesn't sound good

Would that break distance selling regulations? Especially if Royal Mail can confirm that they never got your parcel

@axemc I had very similar issues with their support. Web chat and e mail were giving me the run around when I was trying to return a couple of the mega drive controllers late last year. (I cancelled the order before they posted it but they posted them anyway)

Do you still have the tracking number for the parcel they sent that was returned to them? If you do then check the tracking and take screenshots of it for evidence.

Send all this to them and ask for your refund to be expedited.

If they continue to give you the run around then just call them on the phone. Remain polite, it's hard to do but much less time consuming than investigating reimbursement through your payment methods. Remain polite but sound strained and defeated, tell the agent over the phone that e mail and chat (whatever is applicable) have been giving you the run around and you really just want them to refund the money.

They will do it at that point hopefully.

If not, then check how you paid them. If it's PayPal then you can initiate a chargeback on your PayPal account. If it's with a credit card then you can contact your bank to initiate a charge back. Unfortunately you can't if you paid with debit card (unless it was through PayPal).

But try and resolve it with them first because Nintendo UK are a petty company with petty rules and I am not sure if this would happen but if your My Nintendo account and Switch eshop account are linked, the chargeback might have adverse repercussions.

Unfortunately Nintendo UK are known to drag their feet even complying with the most basic of UK consumer law. Truly one of the worse companies I have ever had to deal with and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. I don't buy anything from them any more unless I feel like I absolutely have to have it (the NSO controllers for example). I genuinely hope they don't release any more just because I don't want to have to do any further business with them.

See ya!

axemc

@ralphdibny thanks for your detailed response. Yes they’re one of the worst companies ever.

I am terrified for my Nintendo Account, because I have so many digital Switch games. I’m totally at their mercy.

I have been polite though, as I don’t want them to blacklist me, due to this, I’m afraid to call my bank.

@axemc try calling them first then. They seem to be much more willing to resolve things over the phone. I'm guessing because they can only take one phone call at once so their stats will go up the more calls they take. Whereas with IM/ e mail, they can talk to many customers at once

See ya!

axemc

@ralphdibny all they do is say that they are sorry and will flag it as it as important, then I get an apology email saying that they’re investigating the matter and that I should wait. It’s been over a month.

axemc

axemc

@Tasuki I’m probably gonna do that.
