Topic: If you edit a post and tag someone in the edit, do they get notified?

Hi, I edited a few of my forum posts and tagged users in the new edits (to help reduce clogging up the page with repetitive replies for friend codes and simple acknowledgements). Are they notified when I do that? Or are tag notifications only active in your original post?

I actually don't know, so let's test it out. I'll post this without any tags, then I'll edit it to tag you and you can see if you get a notification or not.

@ChameleonBros As of 2017-2021, no, tags added as an edit do not notify that user. (unless the site has changed.)

I got a notification from @WoomyNNYes original post, but not from @CinnamonRobin edited post. So it looks like Woomy is correct that tags added as an edit do not notify that user. Thank you both for the test/clarification!

If you tag someone, they will get notified so they will notice. But some users don't really check their notify. So it can go both ways. It will also depend on what you want to happen too. If you really want them to notice then @ them, but if not, then don't tag them.
