I recently purchased a bigger micro sd card as a present for a family member. How do I transfer the data from their previous micro sd card to the new one? I've read a few guides, but don't quite understand it. A step by step breakdown would be really appreciated. Sorry, I'm not very knowledgeable about this stuff.

I remember having to do this when I upgraded my Micro SD card, I used this guide Nintendo support posted. Keep in mind you need to use a computer, so a Micro SD card adapter may be needed.

The article has a step-by-step guide. What I did was...

1. Important: make sure your Switch is completely off before removing the Micro SD card, hold down the power button to get the option to power it off comepletely.
2. Copy the contents of your old Micro SD card to your computer (in a folder to keep it organized).
3. Insert the new Micro SD card, and format it (using Nintendo's recommendation)
4. Copy the contents in the folder from the old Micro SD card onto the new one.
5. Turn on the Switch, and launch a game to test it out.

Alternatively, you can re-download everything, hopefully you won't need to following Nintendo's guide.

I hope this helps.

@SpringLand Guides on Nintendo's support site are the most organized, & reliable. Which is where Sunsy got that link, as you can see.
