If the Switch could play all the games available on the Wii U Virtual Console
Would you pay Nintendo to make a copy of your Wii U Virtual Console games on a Switch Game Cards?

To be honest I would consider it and many by a lot extra games on the Wii U to make sure that I could get the most out of the service

So would I pay Nintendo to put the games I’ve paid them for on a new system? No. They already did that to people from Wii to WiiU

No and I doubt many people would. I'd rather just the digital stuff I buy be tied to my account and work on subsequent systems.

I'd prefer this, though without the subscription woes.

To the question at hand....Would I pay them? No. Would I pay them for a physical om-cartridge compilation of a certain system's library of games, like a compact NES/SNES Mini (but with a lot more games?), then maybe.

Currently playing: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch)

I would also prefer that the digital content would be something that would continue from console to console.
So digital purchases would equal a buy once, play forever option.
But if we look at the Wii U and Switch, there is nothing like this kind of support.
And when Nintendo close down the Wii U eshop support, you are worse of then if you got the games on a physical copy.

So I would love a way to get my digital copies down on a physical copy that I could play without online support.

But even then I feel that we are being cheated each time a console comes out.
Its like the companies are trying to make sure that we have to pay for old content again and again.
The Virtual Console sound like a fix to this, but it is abandoned in favour of Nintendo online.
And Nintendo also sound like a fix to the constant re-acquirement of old content.
But I am sure that that to will be dropped when the next gen console comes around

Probably because people do keep paying for old content.

NES Mini
SNES Mini
Everyone wanting an N64 Mini

Folks keep saying they want a way to purchase something once and just once, but then these re-sell tactics work like hot cakes during a plague.

Too bad we did get the Mini game collections on a Switch game card instead.
But that would kill the idea of Nintendo online.

And I must admit the first time I saw the NES Mini, I hope that it was just a Virtual Console in a NES shell.
With the listed games preinstalled of course

@Slitth I'd like to see more collections in the style of the mega-man legacy collections. I think people would buy the NES and SNES mini game collections on a Switch game card in a bloody heartbeat. Then Nintendo could turn around and offer more games as DLC add-ons.

That would work, and if made the correct way it would help with future consoles.

An by the correct way I mean a official Nintendo emulator with a game collection.
If they just updated the games to the Switch we have to wait for Nintendo to "fix" every NES, SNES, N64 game we want to see on the Switch.
By the time we are finish with the NES, Nintendo would be selling the "Switch 3"

If Nintendo only have to make a emulator, the can just take the original game files and sell a DLCs
And when the next console comes around they just have to update the emulator the the new console and done.

And added bonus would be if Nintendo allow players to save the DLCs on the game card instead of the console.
Then you would not have to worry about Nintendo shutting down the service, you would still have you copy on the game card

@Slitth It'd be amazing sure. Although one issue I find is saving to the game card. As I understand it, Switch game cards are read-only. And while size wouldn't be an issue for NES, or SNES, N64, Gamecube and maybe even GBA could start to be an issue.

Of course Nintendo could just release these on special game cards. But I question if they'd ever be willing to do that.

Come to think of it. Is the Switch even capable to write data to game card?

@Slitth I believe the wording I have seen was "Switch game cards are read-only". I do not know if that means the Switch would not be able to write to a new model card or not.
