Oh and Mega Man dosent Count AS Much because they stopped and than Revived it, mabey if they stop COD for 5 Years and Revive it than it wont be Over Rated, Mega Man counts a little because they had 6 for One console and thats a Chibi Bit Tiring but ill still get them all on VC but ONE AFTER ANOTHER AFTER ANOTHER EACH YEAR.

I still don't understand how that makes it overrated though, especially since that means that no matter how good the games in the series are, because it has that many games in the series released in that time frame, its automatically overrated.
I agree with J.K. 100% when it comes to FFVII, but I disagree just as much about Chrono Trigger. I think that alone helps show what has pretty much already been established: the concept of something being "overrated" is seeped in a self-righteous "my-taste-in-games-is-better-than-yours" mindset.
That said, I also agree with those who say they can think some games are overrated yet still enjoy them. Super Mario Bros. 3 is one such for me. I think it's scandelous that the majority holds it above Super Mario World, but I don't actually hate the game itself.
I do have my share of "I-really-hate-this-shut-the-fart-up-already" games as well, Modern Warfare 2 at the top of the pile (I tried it...it was crap). But I know that some of MY favorite games are considered overrated by many, including Chrono Trigger of course, but also Earthbound, Kingdom Hearts (series in general), and apparently, Uncharted. You just can't please everybody, I suppose.

When they all you hear about over and over and over how a game is revolutionary and it isnt. When everyone acts like its the greatest game to come out and not do anything new or different from other games i.e. Halo.
I think the term "Overrated" is overused. It's a easy word that people use when they don't understand why someone like something or are jealous of the others happiness. To be honest, i think most of the games that people say to be overrated are just over-advertised.
I agree that calling an over-USED licence "overrated" makes no sense. I also agree with AlexSays that the term itself is overused. Overrated should really only apply to the biggest, most over-hyped games and/or series. Which actually means that Mario and Call of Duty are bad examples.
I don't think Uncharted is quite huge enough to deserve that classification. Point of fact, it's been hugely overshadowed by Call of Duty, especially where the multiplayer in Uncharted 2 is concerned.

@Stuffgamer1: In that case, wouldn't Super Smash Bros. Brawl be a decent example of an overhyped game? I was massively disappointed with it, even thought it was still a very good game.

Depends on why you were disappointed. Super Smash Bros. Brawl was mostly advertised and praised as being "more of the same great gameplay, now with more characters and more features." It seems to me like it did exactly that.

Just get the Megaman Anniversity Collection on Gamecube than you wont have to wait plus you will get Megaman 7 and 8.

True. And some games don't even get over advertised and it is considered overrated. But i completely agree with what you said about about people are jealous of others happiness.
Not every game has to bring something completely new.
Just because Halo games improve on the little things and continue the story doesn't make them overrated.
Same thing everyone says about Madden. It's a football sim, want teams to play in outer space or something? Madden Galaxy?
Agreed. I don't see why doing nothing new should make a game any less great so long as it's done well...well, I guess I sort of can, but I still wouldn't say a game is overrated just because of that.
It's an individual or a group's opinion that a game is not as great as every one else or other people think it is, simply. I tend to think some thing's overrated when some thing like a bunch of Sephiroth fan boys go around posting on the internet how he's awesome and Final Fantasy VII is the best RPG ever. That's annoying.

There really isnt such thing as overrated. The word itself means (in this context) that the opinions of critics and/or of the general public praises a game too highly. There is no such thing as an opinion praising too highly. That would mean someone's opinion is wrong. And lets not be childish, everyone has to admit that an opinion cant be wrong. You can only disagree. And have a different opinion.
