Has gaming done anything for you external to the game itself such as gran turismo teaching you how cars work, tetris undoing the damage of a traumatic experience or mr driller teaching you that challenges are doable no matter how overwhelming they may seem at first?
Lots of games that I've played especially during my earlier years as a kid have taught me quite a bit about patience and perseverance. Some games are really hard, and it can be pretty easy to give up on them after a while. But the satisfaction you get from finally pushing through is fantastic. The same thing can be true about life in general as well.

Currently playing:
Persona 3 Reload (PC)
Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy (PC)
I have these rare point and click adventure moments, when I combine or use everyday objects to reach my target (like "Twist metal coat hanger to reach T-Shirt you dropped from the window").

Absolutely. If games have taught me anything, it's to always do my best no matter how tough things get. It's what I've learned after finishing many of the classic Mario platformers for the first time when I was younger. It's a really good, positive mindset that can easily be applied to real life, too!
Games made me like reading actually, books aren’t really my thing, nor were manga or comics, but doing all the reading I do in video games and I thought to myself, “I’m just reading all the time anyway” and made gave me a new appreciation of reading.
I think gaming in the long run probably improved my ability to concentrate on a task. Which is terrifying to think about, because I can often be very bad at that, so I can't even fathom what I'd be like if it didn't.
Ah, many. For example, Minecraft — this game thought me to be patient and keep my creativity. Also make me want to keep trying to be rich cause the things I made in Minecraft... urghhh I want to have those in reality. I also learned a bit of coding because of this game.
Hmm, I guess you could say it's proven to me that even if something at first feels impossible to master and totally out of my usual skill set, practice and persistence really doesn't take much time before you start to get a grip on things. That barrier that once made you furious can become one of your most enjoyable victories and even a simple pastime once you master it.
Less of a 'life skill' but I also owe videogames a lot of my creative energy and as a writer (a proper employed one, not the unemployed café-skulking kind) that's something that serves me very well too.
Hang on to your youthful enthusiasms - you'll be able to use them better when you're older.
Not sure if I'd consider these things gaming has taught me or it's just something I'm naturally good at and also part of why I'm into games. But I'd say intuitive problem solving. Basically the typical Zelda fare, walk into a room and you have to figure out what to do next based on context cues and your memory of what was in the previous rooms. Being a developer that's pretty much what I do all day every day
It's also one of the things that, more than anything else, will make me stop playing a game. When they have some kind of problem and the solution is some unexplained/obscure mechanic or cheap non-logical solution. A lot of the big non-Zelda adventure games are particularly bad at that
