I decided to play Kirby Star Stacker. I think I read something about this but my first time playing the I guess endless mode I got to like 500 stars or whatever, so I am convinced this game is comically easy. I can't get anywhere in Puyo Puyo but this is the exact opposite.

Last night, played the next sector in the original Jagged Alliance. Took a couple of tries as I kept getting spotted by the enemy, but after restarting a few times, using quick save, and getting behind cover I was able to clear the sector with no damage to my team (unlike the first few tries where an enemy almost took out one of my mercs).

Friday, played more F-Zero 99, with no disconnection. It ended up being my ISP having outages. Did a few matches of Modern Combat Blackout.

The day after Christmas, played Sonic X Shadow Generations. Went right into Shadow Generations and so far enjoying it. Perfect timing given I saw Sonic 3 a few days before Christmas too.

When you try to make a photo of the Disney characters in Kingdom Hearts III they comment on it and make a pose. Soul.

Started off the new year by continuing Mario vs. Donkey Kong. I wanna get as much levels done as I can, then I'll move on to either Sonic X Shadow Generations or Pikmin 4. Also still playing Mega Man Battle Network 2, and I do wanna get back to F-Zero 99 sometime soon. I've also been playing Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete and the NES version of Tetris (via NSO).

And since my birthday is coming later this month, I'd like to play Super Mario Party Jamboree when that day comes. There's a certain board I wanna play in it, too!

@Tyranexx Same here actually, the style changes are cool, but I think I like the navi fusions you've mentioned a little more. Speaking of style changes, not sure why you can only have one of them in BN3. Maybe it has something to do with the then-new navi customizer? Which I do like as well, it's a lot more versatile than simply upgrading the buster. And yeah, I'm liking the shield style quite a bit. I do like how you start off with a barrier, at least in BN2. Yeah... didn't they stop making anime dubs after BN4 was out? I don't remember seeing any episodes based on BN5's events, and I sure as heck didn't see any episodes based on BN6's story.

Yeah, I wasn't too huge into the liberation missions, I think they got pretty difficult for me at times. It's been years since I played BN5 though, and I have played stuff like Fire Emblem, so I'd probably like them a little more.

Wait, you can do selfie / take photo in Kingdom Hearts 3 ?

@MarioVillager92 It could have something to do with the Navi customizer; I remember being confused about it until something clicked one day. As for the Mega Man NT Warrior anime, I think only the original season and Axess were localized; none of the other seasons left Japan.

Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet DLC, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)

I'm playing animal well on switch atm. So far, about 5-6 hrs in, I'm struggling to find the appeal. It's not bad by any means, but after all the hoopla I expected alot more. Got to the most frustrating part so far last night having to bring the mock disc to one of the flames where the cat follows you the entire time. Took me a good 30-40 minutes last night just nonstop retrying. I'll see this through since I'm more than likely past the halfway point, but it doesn't feel like the highlight everyone made it out to be.

@NintendoByNature tbh, I think the main appeal to most people is a) the neat art style and b) it's not just a clone of the 900 million other metroidvanias. Having really original ideas is kind of rare in that genre.

Granblue Fantasy Relink
The combat is enjoyable, the music is alright, graphic is good but the more I play, the more I realise that new games just lack something very important. They are fun but something is missing, like I am playing content and not a video game to have an experience.

Magician

Over the weekend began playing Blacksmith of the Sand Kingdom. Developed by Rideon (best known for the Mercenaries series of srpgs), BotSK is a crafting/rpg. Basically a more-budget version of the Atelier series. Ten hours in, so far I am enjoying this more than Raging Bytes.

Only a quarter of the way through, probably will end up being a 7/10 experience through and through.

But hey, at least this feels like it's punching above its weight a bit.

@NintendoByNature Much of the hoopla stems from the fact that one person made the game. Like Conscript, Balatro, Return of the Obra Dinn, Brotato, Axiom Verge, Lumo, AWAY: Journey to the Unexpected, Stardew Valley, Midnight Fight Express, Retro City Rampage, Dusk, Braid, Cave Story, Iconoclasts, Pinstripe, Downwell, etc. Making games is hard. Making a game by yourself is no doubt extra hard.

@Magician when you put it that way, I feel like a fool now. Like I said, not a bad game, but not what I anticipated based on the hype. I happened to think axiom verge 1 was lightyears better than animal well so far. Same with stardew and cave story. I do appreciate it more now knowing it was made by one person.
@FishyS definitely know what you mean.

WipeOut for the PlayStation 1

Quite challenging. I managed to win five out of six races and just barely got the third place on the last course. Fourth place would be Game Over. It was also my last life, phew. The venom class is beaten. I feel like the next class might be too hard for my average gaming skills, so I will be content with this small victory. Still I think WipeOut is fun and I want to try the other games in the series.

I also played a few minutes of Final Fantasy VIII and felt right at home again. There is just something very soothing and comforting in those vibes.

Yeah, I think I was too harsh with Granblue Fantasy Relink. The game is fine.

Dirt5 on Series X. Enjoyable Arcade Racer with a rally/off-road vibe. Decent selection of vehicles to unlock through in-game currency, which is given very generously when completing races, so it doesn't feel like pay to win. There are a few top-tier vehicles in each class which can be bought with real cash, but there's no 'hard sell' to try and get you to buy them or anything. The dynamic weather is pretty good too. As racing games go, its probably an 7.5-8/10 for me.

Finally starter up DQIII HD2D last night. Just the opening section though before you to the castle. I look forward to diving in this weekend.

Playing Final Fantasy VIII and Granblue Fantasy Relink now and I feel I was right about Relink after all. Relink gives me the feeling, that I should just give up on modern games and play the classics. To me it almost feels like modern gaming is all about the fear of missing out and trophies. But yeah at least the gameplay is enjoyable.

I finally wrapped up the Vatican in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and OMG what a great sequence. I loved exploring the underground vault and then the boss battle (R.I.P. Tony Todd) and the cinematics, OMG the story is on par with the movies.

There are a few things I missed little things like collectibles that I might go back and get but right now I want to progress more of the story.
