For me, Youtubers Life 2 PS4 and Epic Chef PS4 are my GOTY 2022.

I'm very much not a FPS fan, but DOOM appeals to me on an almost fundamental level. The modern games, especially, are polished gameplay-first experiences that lean into and elevate the best traits of the genre. They feel very Nintendo-esque, in that sense.

I’m in to enjoy a shooter, it’s gotta have some of the following, great replay ability, good guns, fun guns to collect, fun mechanics, a nice shooter feel, really unique.

All of this is what I like about shooters, and there one of my favorite types of games, but they gotta have something to keep be from getting bored to fast.

I like the general gameplay of shooters but not the gritty, violent tones that most of them have. So stuff like Splatoon and Ratchet & Clank is ideal. Which leads me to the possibly unpopular opinion that Link's Crossbow Training is a really fun and overlooked game.

(I might be willing to try Doom actually; even though I don't like gore, I'd rather play a game with over-the-top fantasy violence than one where you kill realistic humans.)

Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music

@Dogorilla I actually came to love Link's crossbow training back when I used the Wii all the time, the boss fights and "search" battles were actually really fun lol.
It does kind of suck that it replaced a Twilight Princess 2 though

Games I'm playing right now:
OoT N64
DK64 N64
Lego LotR Wii
Spirit Tracks DS
TotK Switch

On the topic of shooter games, I tend to enjoy them. I love playing Paladins, id Software stuff, Apex, Splatoon, and Realm Royale. I can see someone disliking it as an unpopular opinion as they tend to be popular in general.

I guess the only popular one I didn't like was Fortnite, tried it in 2018 and didn't enjoy it then. Though, my opinion did change the other night as I had fun with the no build mode when I tried it out of curiosity (maybe an unpopular opinion). Again, sometimes I'll revisit a game I didn't like to see if my opinion changes or not, in this case, it did.

The switch era is my least favorite era of Nintendo. It feels like most of the games they put out are soulless, and feels as if Nintendo themselves somewhat grew complacent with how successful the system was at launch. The first party lineup feels drastically weaker than the 3DS, and a ton of their first party stuff can't even really surpass it. They have an update model which they love to use, so that apparently justifies them cutting tons of content from the game, or releasing the game bare bones with them updating the content back into it later down the line. People eat it up despite that.

Now with the online expansion, they're getting greedy and pushing out DLC for an old game that doesn't even match the quality of the game they're making it for.

The return of girlie games on modern consoles (Switch, PS4, PS5, XBOX Series) like during Wii / NDS era is a great news for me.

Social media and platforms like Discord aren't acceptable as a replacement to forums. It keeps happening that you see a game that had forums shutting down those forums saying to go check out their social media accounts, official Discord server and all that kind of stuff. It's constantly frustrating as while these other platforms have their uses, none of them do what forums do well.

Like for example on here I can just go back to the first page of "The Nintendo Switch Thread" and relive the fun speculation days of what is codename NX. That would be extremely difficult if not impossible on those other platforms.

@Grumblevolcano I agree with this. It also can get hectic on social media because you have all sorts of people and interests on them, as oppose to a forum being dedicated to discussing specific topics. Plus, you can deal with less toxic people on forum, vs. actual social media, and you meet like-minded people to talk to.

@Grumblevolcano I prefer the vibe of forums much more personally. It's usually pretty chill, passionate discussions on things we really like that are able to be much more regulated than your average Discord server. It's kind of the main reason why I've made an account here and not one on Discord: I can go to a place that's laser focused on my interests (like the Pokemon and Splatoon threads for instance) and not have to engage in a conversation topic I'm not interested in, like Metroid (highly respect the series but I cannot get into it for the life of me).

You also get a better sense of people's personalities when you're able to go through the posts they've made and gather their likes and dislikes, making it easier to find someone who relates to your interests to have a chat about them. There are definitely people around here (and on the sister sites to boot) that you instantly know who they are and what they're like simply by seeing their name, it's great honestly.

So yeah: never regretted joining here (and Time Extension by....well, extension) and you've pretty much summed up why I prefer to be here rather than on Discord and other such messaging services

Not a unpopular opinion. Just a confession. I have never really played a mega man game, like, ever, the only one I have ever played was 11 llano.

@Snatcher
Same.
My first finished Megaman game was Megaman 11 PS4, just because I played in Newcomer difficulty (the easiest difficulty).
Otherwise, the game will be unplayable for me due to difficulty spike on each stages.
Don't even ask about Megaman Network Transmission on Gamecube.

@Anti-Matter I want to try them, just have no idea which one I should play first. I mean are they all canon, different storylines?

@Snatcher Mega Man 2, 3 and 4, in that order, IMO.
They are are all canon, but there's not much of a story progressing through them, so they can really be played in any order (though 3 has something that's better appreciated if you've played 2 first). This does change with the Mega Man X series and onward, where the story is more progressive through the series.
