Cats for sure. They're so cute and their laziness and the fact that they're often times so aloof just adds to how adorable they are. Dogs are, in my experience, just stupid meat-heads that make far too much noise.
Domestic cats descended from small wildcats, not lions...
Dogs on the other hand all descended from wolves...
Cats may scratch you sometimes - but that's nothing compared a dog when it is vicious (however rare that may be).

A neighbour of ours had a cat that we let into our house sometimes, it urinated on my sister's back and pooped under my bed, and ate all of our dog's food (they got along surprisingly well)
I'm gonna go with dogs on this one, they're just more friendly and fun.
Cats. I don't have to worry about training them.
Dogs on the other hand require intensive attention if you get them un-housetrained. It's horrible to deal with.
