Went back to my local gaming café yesterday for another drop in D&D session. This time it was a mystery based adventure that played more like Clue lol. It wasn't bad but I brought the wrong character to for this adventure a Goliath Paladin. Basically the adventure was that we had to keep this rich "business" woman's son alive over night while being locked in her mansion. We had to figure out who was trying to kill him and using any means necessary keep him alive.

Well we started out by keeping the heir with us and disguising him as one of the members of our adventuring group. I used some acolyte robes that I had and my son who was playing a thief used his disguise kit on him and passed him off as a new disciple for our cleric. We went around the house searching for clues as to who was after the heir but due to some bad rolls all we could find out is that his family were a bunch of illegal fencers so that didnt give us much as to who but why. We ended up killing the house's cook by accident and ended up keeping ourselves locked up in a study after searching the house didnt yield anything. By the time dawn was arriving the assassin showed themselves and we ended up fighting them off and was successful in our adventure.

Overall not a bad adventure as I said I brought the wrong character so I couldnt help much. Add to that the luck of the dice with bad rolls I feel it could have been better but that's D&D for you.

Well it looks like the next IP that Hasbro is going to mess up for D&D is Dark Sun. Right now on their Unearthed Arcana section on D&D Beyond the have a few new subclasses for the Druid, Sorcerer, Fighter and Warlock. Named the Apocalypse Pack, the name alone sounds like its Dark Sun then you look at the new fighter subclass the Gladiator and the Warlock subclass which is psionic based and you can see Dark Sun all over it.

Personally I don't know how they are going to do it I am guessing its going to be like Mad Max or Fallout but the curious nature is how they are going to deal.with slavery and such since Hasbro feels the need to PC D&D. I am thinking its going to be a dumpster fire.

Went to my local Game.Cafe last night for another night of drop in D&D. This adventure we were able use level 10 characters so I managed to dust off and convert and old 2nd Edition character of mine to 5E. I played a human battle master fighter while my son played a Goblin Arcane Archer/Rogue. The adventure consisted of a town being raided by Fire Giants and there minions, grabbing people and everything metal and taking it up to a mountain cave. We faught off a few of the minions, some hellhounds and a giant wolly rhinoceros but the giants fled. Since it was only two of us we played it smart my son manged to use a rope of entanglement on the rhinoceros which incapacitated it while I took out a couple of hellhounds. We tracked the Giants then to a large cavern which ended up to be a giant foundry where the Giants were using lava pools to melt the metal and machines to forge huge chains.

After carefully sneaking our way through the foundry since again it was only 2 of us we came across what the giants were upto. Apparently they were making chains to keep in place a huge red dragon. The dragon was of course trashing around trying to break its chains. We came to discover that they dragon wanted to rule the land, rule the giants, rule tbe townsfolk basically rule or destroy everything. After speaking with the dragon he started to break some of the chains and attack us so we acted. Again since it was two of us we had to play smart. I decided to climb one of tbe chains that secured the dragon and get to its back while my son set up his rifle and sniped at it. I manged to get a critical hit and opened up a section of its scales exposing its flesh which my son who also got a crit and blasted the exposed area. After a few intense rounds we slayed the dragon and came to find out the Giants were under a spell from someone else to chain up the dragon. But that's a tale for another time.

Overall we had a blast.and now I can add to my D&D resume dragon slayer lol. It was a tough adventure mainly cause we were two fighters, it probably would have been alot better had we had a full party but that's the fun of drop in D&D. Still.we came up with some unique ways to tackle a few parts. Hopefully we can continue this adventure at some point, the DM said hes going to try to do Drop in D&D once a month so we shall see.
