I was just watching Newsline (on NHK World), and they had a quick news story on Shigeru Miyamoto!
He was recently in Spain, where he was awarded with a prestigious award. He was awarded for his work in video games, and how he turned them into a social phenomenon that anyone can enjoy, regardless of age, gender, or status.
He wore a tuxedo, and sported a fancy Mario pin.

The award was handed out by The Prince of Asturias Foundation, where he recieved the award for Communication & Humanities, & shook hands with Spain's crown prince Felipe.
The award ceremony is held every year, with categories in science, the artes, ect.

Awesome! I'm going to be looking on youtube and online now to see if they have some video footage of this event. He definitely deserves awards for everything he's done in the video game industry, arts, and society. Kudos to Shigi ^_^
