In the next Smash Bros. I would love it if they could include a feature where you could draw the background of your custom stages. Like a kind of basic paint program, perhaps a bit like the Super Game Boy feature. It'd be pretty simple, it would just be a flat picture behind the actual stage infrastructure, but would add a lot more to make your stages feel like Nintendo backdrops. I can't see why this would be especially difficult to implement, although I'm hardly knowledgeable about programming.

So, would you like to see such a feature in the next Smash Bros (whatever console) ? If so, what kind of backgrounds would you design?

For instance, I'd like a stage where I've drawn a couple of Nep E Nuts in the background.

I have lots of ideas, but I'd like to hear more from you...

I'd rather them just focus on actually balancing the characters.

Do the Mario!

You lost me at Smash Bros.

Nintendo said there not making any more.
And if they did, it would be to balance out some of the characters

I thought this would start off with "Sicily, 1943".. (The world needs more Golden Girls references)

Nice idea, especially if the editor was packed with Nintendo style brushes and cliparts. You could even add SD card support for use of jpegs. a feature I hoped we'd be able to use on the Wii-menu background by now, but no :[

Chances are, it still won't happen. Then again I'm still hoping for a 3DS game.

You mean That Brawl Stage builder

You can make a Brawl stage on your PC, and put it on a SD card, so you can play with it on the Wii

Think he's talking about using pictures or whatever as backgrounds...

And why exactly is that??? It's Nintendo's only fighting franchise, and WAY too big of a cash cow for them to just drop. It not only sells by the shiploads, but the game single handedly sells truckloads of consoles, as well. Nintendo has plenty of other well trusted developers to hand the next installment to. Just because HAL Laboratories doesn't want to do any more (which, as long as they;re under Nintendo's payroll, doesn't matter too much) doesn't mean Nintendo won't produce any more. I'd be absolutely shocked if another Smash Bros. didn't come out within 2 years of the launch of Nintendo's next console.

ON TOPIC: I think it's a great idea. I've thought for a while they should have more stage themes. I've built over 220 myself and play them all, so it would be nice to have more then 3 to choose from. I also wish they'd included the ability to upload your own music tracks to play in the background of your custom stages. It would be so easy to implement with that SD card... the capabilities for that SD card slot are SO heavily underutilized.

Yeah, Brawl snapshots would be good, or maybe even special downloads of backgrounds from Nintendo themselves.

Who hasn't made a SMB3 Airship stage? I'd like to make a background for that, with the usual enemies, canons firing, and so on.

Howdy there, CowLaunch! Long time no see!

That would be awesome, except it would be really hard to draw anything decent unless you could like scan artwork onto your PC and then put it on your SD card and upload it into Smash Bros. 4, which is pretty convoluted to say the least. If the next Nintendo console had a scanner of its own or even a functional USB port, then whoa.

Turnip

perhaps it could be possible with the uDraw tablet...

Cringing is really fun.
