Sticker Star: Yes,it was the weakest in the Paper Mario series, but was it a terrible game? Nah, I'd probably give it a 6.5 or 7/10 opposed to most folks who would give it like a 3/10.

Star Fox Zero: My Star Fox bias may be clouding my judgement here, but thought this was a great re telling of Star Fox 64. Controls weren't bad at all, and I actually came to enjoy the control scheme.

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Excellent JRPG. I felt some of the flak this game got was ridiculous. "They removed the boob slider in the western release! Terrible game!" Also, like a lot of other Wii U titles, I felt this wasn't given the credit it was due just because it was on the Wii U.

Yoshi's New Island: Felt too "samey", yes, but I can appreciate a game that emulates such a classic. Art style was great too.

Pokemon Y. Similar to SS, the weakest in its respective series but not bad.

Agree about Sticker Star.

Metroid Prime Federation Force
Solid, fun game to play with friends. Hated, for not being a different game. Im trying to think of a worse reason to hate a game... Nope. Cant think of any.

Star Fox Zero
Best entry in the franchise. Good fun to be had here. Controls offer a high skill ceiling. Very rewarding to master.

Mass Effect Andromeda
I played months after release when everything was patched up, so i never experienced any issues that caused such an outrage at launch. Gameplay is fluid and fun. Is it rough around the edges? Yes. It doesnt have the polish that Nintendo games do. Decent story. Not great, but good. Definitely over hated.

Prey
One of the best games of 2017. Hated because of the publisher and its not related to the original at all. Still a great game.

Sonic Heroes

Nostalgia talks but I prefer the more concise design than that of Adventure and Adventure 2. Slippery controls and all.

Star Fox Zero

The ability to aim in a direction without also steering your Arwing into the path of the thing you are aiming at. Thank you.

Xenoblade Chronicles X

I prefer the more gameplay focus to the other two, and the limited story time between huge sections of gameplay flowed a lot better for me. Then the battle system just had layers and layers and felt very fast paced, at least compared to XC2...and more involved....I mean it's my favourite game for a reason.

Metroid Other M. Yes, of course, the story, script, and voice acting were not only ATROCIOUS, but actively undermined the character of Samus that we all know and love. But the gameplay, for me, was really enjoyable. I never got into the Prime series, and the third person 3D interpretation of the Metroid formula in Other M was exactly what I wanted. It's basically the Metroid game we should have got on the N64 (which would have been better without the voice acting lol). Shame we're unlikely to see a sequel with improvements because of all the hate.

The other M
I understand people’s gripes with it but it’s still better than 75% of what’s out there.

Sticker Star would be overhated if Nintendo's treatment of the Paper Mario series wasn't profoundly stupid.

Star Fox Zero is overhated, but I do think it was poor choice for a control system as advanced and poorly explained as it to be in a quickie, easy to beat shoot-em-up. That doesn't even have multiplayer. It would be like if the mobile Fire Emblem game was as complicated as a PC grand strategy game. Not ideal.

Skyward Sword is definitely overhated. Sorry guys, I played it, the controls work well, get over it. It has some issues, but nothing game breaking (...outside of the one gamebreaking bug they had to patch out...).

Any middle-of-the-road 3D Sonic game is probably overhated. The idea that Sonic Unleashed is somehow a bad game is almost fascinating when compared to the amount of actually bad games that exist. If Sonic Unleashed is a bad game, so are many decently well liked games, let's be honest here.

Also, Bioshock Infinite, who have the most smug, pseudo-intellectual haters. I can totally see why people didn't like it as much as the original, but wow is the hate that game gets by some people embarrassing.

Star Fox Zero: A solid re-imagining of Star Fox 64. Sure there's plenty of ways the game could've been better such as the story taking place sometime between Assault and Command or after one of the Command endings rather than retelling 64; online multiplayer; having more new planets; etc. but it's far from a bad game.

Fire Emblem Awakening/Fates: Sure they're not as good as Ike's games and the GBA games but they're still fun games to play. That said, they shouldn't have locked the physical copy of the complete story for Fates behind a very rare special edition.

Paper Mario Color Splash: The hate behind Sticker Star is completely justified but Color Splash fixes the vast majority of those issues.

Bayonetta 2 and potentially 3: The games being exclusive to Nintendo consoles is much better than the games not existing, surely?

Okamiden - I wasn't aware until recently that some people consider this a bad game. True, it doesn't live up to Okami's legacy very well, but it's by no means a bad game. I treat it as more of a spinoff than a sequel, though.

Xenoblade Chronicles X - Having spent a lot of time with this game lately, people hate this? I'm assuming most of the complainers are censorship complainers (among others)? I love the game, and while it isn't perfect, it's one of the better ones that I've played in recent memory.

Pokemon X/Y - While these games currently hold the crown of my least favorite games in the whole mainline Pokemon series, they're by no means bad. I did get some enjoyment out of my playthrough of Y in the long-term, though there are a lot of things I would have changed.

Fire Emblem Fates (all three versions) - I understand some of the hate here in regards to how scarce the Special Edition carts were (haven't played these yet, though I hope to start Conquest in a few days), I still don't see how these are bad games. Some of the "reviews" on Metacritic irk me because of some people complaining about the "censorship". Pretty much everything that was removed wasn't essential to the game and was just fanservice. Hopefully most of those whiners have moved on by this point.

Edit: Forgot about Skyward Sword. While I feel that some complaints about the motion controls are justified, I feel that they're overblown. It's still an excellent game in its own right that, despite a few missteps, is an enjoyable experience.

Prey 2017 was a sleeper hit to be quite honest. Sad it got the fate a game like this should never get.

The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.

@Tyranexx People did hate XCX. Yes a lot of it was localisation complainers.

Sorry, they couldn't make Lin older to keep her in a bikini because her age is relevant to the plot!

@YummyHappyPills: Personally, the localization changes that I do know about in XCX affect the actual gameplay, plot, etc. so little that I don't understand why people were so up in arms about it.

Sticker Star: Yeah, okay...I still say that TTYD is best, followed by Super...but...it's not THAT bad. It had unique bosses (even though the final boss was boring, and Bowser never even speaks in the game) and it tried something new with the battle system. I still prefer TTYD's battles though...and this game is where the Toad infestation began....soooo....>_>

Other M: Voice acting here never really bothered me, dunno why...I think I even liked it better than Corruption's. Controls were "meh", like...why couldn't you give us a nunchuck option? Using a D-Pap for a 3D movement game...ugh. Also, I HATED those pixel finding spots, some of them were okay, but others were just pointless...and a pain to deal with. Aside from that, I still liked the game....reminded me of Fusion in some ways. I also l just liked the creepiness, almost felt like a horror games at times with some spooky parts. xD (also that true final boss was epic, really made up for the crappy story final boss, lol)

Hard agree on Sonic Heroes. It's my favorite 3D Sonic game, actually. It has big issues, but no game doesn't have big issues.

Aside from that, Metroid: Samus Returns tends to get a lot of flak by comparing it endlessly to AM2R (which is basically just a glorified Zero Mission hack that doesn't do much to progress Metroid. A good game? Absolutely. But it's just a fangame), while Samus Returns did just that with the melee counter and 360 degree aiming while introducing potential new story ideas for future games with the Chozo Memories.

Metroid, Xenoblade, EarthBound shill

Donkey Kong 64: Before I ever knew about people hating it and its 'excessive' amount of collectibles. Maybe it’s the collector in me talking but I‘ve never had a problem with the way the game treated its collectibles. Plus, the multiplayer just rocks. Sorry, but I definitely prefer this to some of the more beloved Rare games like Conker‘s Bad Fur Day or Banjo-Tooie.

Skyward Sword: People hate the motion controls? Honestly, I love them. They brought a new layer to the puzzles. Sure combat felt a tad more limited with most gimmicks revolving around the way you need to swing the Wiimote but I‘d rather have better puzzles than combat. Now, do I like Skyward Sword? Nope, the lack of a true open world (Skyloft doesn‘t count for its lack of relevant islands outside the main one and the pumpkin house), recycling of bosses and the Imprisoned boss fights are what breaks it for me.

Yeah I was fine with Skyward Sword's controls too, only issue I had with that game is...fighting what's-his-face and the giant black thing ten bazillion times. lol

Y’know guys, games can be bad even if they aren’t broken. Go look at Beastly (Wii) XD. It’s perfectly functional.

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.
