@lighteningbolt79: At least some people get discounts on games they don't own yet. I already own every discounted game on My Nintendo in some way or another. The only game I don't have on Wii U is Other M, but I already got a physical version for the Wii, so there's no point in getting the digital version.

@lighteningbolt79: I believe the "personalized" rewards are pretty much the same for everyone at this point. Remember that the whole scheme is new so the rewards will most likely become - if not better - at least more personalized in the future. Launches like this take a lot of time and effort so they may not have had the time to add in the algorithms for personalized rewards yet.

I think that by "just for you", it means that when you redeem it, the discount will show up under the "just for you" discounts of the eShop. And the my Nintendo discounts will probably be certain games Nintendo puts on there that you can get.
Sometimes there will be actual discounts made for some people that depends on the games they own.
On my Japanese account I've gotten a couple discounts made for me. I don't have a whole lot of digital games on my Wii U, but in my first "Just for you" discount, Bayonetta 2 was on sale for 30 or 40% probably because I owned the wonderful 101. (There were also some other games too)

Nintendaan got a Fire Emblem Just for you discount for owning the Japanese download of Awakening and could get Fates on sale recently while I didn't get one. (Apparently virtual console didn't count towards it for me...)

How do the discounts work? Is it a code, so I could give it to a friend? Or does it only apply to my account?

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

@AlliMeadow: That sucks. I think I own every game that has a discount but would love to gift those discounts...

Since it's Monday, I decided to try if the weekly sign-in was bound to a calendar week or if it was bound to 7 days. It's bound to the former.

I opened Miiverse on my 3DS last Thursday to get the weekly bonus of 30 platinum coins on the day the scheme launched. I did the same thing today and was notified that I had completed the mission again. So that being said, you do not have to wait full 7 days before you can get the weekly reward for signing in to Miiverse, eShop, and the official Nintendo website. You only have to wait until the next Monday.

I haven't tested if it works on the eShop yet but the mission is stated to be "active" on the My Nintendo website so it should work. I also just received the additional coins from visiting the official Nintendo website while being logged in (the reward appeared as a loose coin right next to my Mii on the My Nintendo website.

@Nego: I can confirm that everything resets on Monday. Signing in to My Nintendo also gives you 30 platinum points by clicking on the coin next to your Mii on the main page.

@Octane: Ah, thanks for the tip on the coin! I thought it was for visiting the official Nintendo website but I guess not. It's odd though that you get no notification on visiting the official website but that it can be seen in your point history. I didn't even know it was a thing before NL's article on the My Nintendo economy.

@samuelvictor: As far as I know, Nintendo has not outlined when the new rewards are added. Considering the current rewards will expire after a set time it's more than likely that they will add new rewards at a set of time.

You can check when the rewards expire by selecting them on the My Nintendo website. The current rewards have different dates on when they expire so it does not look like they will be adding multiple new rewards at the same time. It's possible but I'd guess the new rewards drop in when the earlier rewards expire. This is just speculation though so take it with a grain of salt.

@samuelvictor: None of the current rewards really interest me either so I understand your pain. I already own 10 of the games on offer in one form or another and the remaining four titles don't really interest me. I've read though that the Japanese already have some tailored rewards though (Fire Emblem Fates price reduction if you already own Awakening for an example) so hopefully they will set them up in the West soon too.

Then again I don't have access to Miitomo so it's not like I received more than 120 platinum coins in a week. : I'm currently saving for the Twilight Princess Picross but even that is still weeks away (I'm currently at 430 pcoins).

@samuelvictor: It's possible that 3DS owners are getting a better deal than Wii U owners (I've got both consoles but play more on my 3DS). Then again Flipnote is a letdown and I already own Warioware Touched on the regular DS and SML2 on the 3DS. The only thing I want is the Zelda Picross which is still 5 weeks away for me since I don't have the Miitomo rewards. Then again, I'm afraid it's going to be another letdown.

Stupid question...What's the difference between a My Nintendo account & a Nintendo Network Id?

My Nintendo is the new Rewards system for Nintendo.
Nintendo Network ID is used to access Online Features on your Wii U and 3DS
Nintendo Account connects your Nintendo Network ID, My Nintendo, and Social Websites/apps

Hope that helps.

Since there was nothing else I wanted with the Platinum/Miitomo points, I got the Mario Suit in Miitomo, which will go great with my Mario Hat.

I got Zelda: TP Picross a few days ago, and it's pretty fun.

Unless, they add a game I'm interested in between now & then, I'm gonna be saving up for the 3DS Mario theme.

I hope they eventually reintroduce physical rewards too, though.

Sorry for the double post, but I think I've worked out all platinum point possibilities.

Daily:
1. 10 Points - Get 5 Answers (Miitomo)
2. 10 Points - Get 5 Hearts (Miitomo)
3. 5 Points - Give 3 Answers (Miitomo)
4. 5 Points - Change Outfit (Miitomo)
5. 5 Points - Listen to 10 Answers (Miitomo)

Weekly:
1. 30 Points - Sign into MyNintendo (the coin next to your Mii)
2. 30 Points - Sign into Nintendo.com
3. 30 Points - Sign into Nintendo eShop
4. 30 Points - Sign into Miiverse
5. 25 Points - Answer Weekly Event Question (Miitomo)

This doesn't even count all the one shot point chances, like all the social media connection bonuses, as well as the block hidden mission.

Anyhow, I now have enough for the 3DS Mario theme, so I'm going to grab that (got Zelda Picross earlier in the week).
