Seriously, why does everyone like this show?... I see it everywhere. It's just My Little Pony. It's not even the original My Little Pony.
I don't remember much about the original MLP, so I can't make a comparison.
But, here's the best thing I can relate to your statement. In late 1998, Metal Gear Solid is released. You read all this fuss about how great it is and you wonder what the deal is. The original and pseudo-sequel on NES were nothing spectacular (not saying that about original MLP, this is just the best comparison I can make). You say, "it's just Metal Gear. It's not even the original Metal Gear". Well, it turns out that there's no real comparison to be made. Metal Gear Solid is such a completely different entity from the Metal Gear of NES days you're familiar with, and Metal Gear Solid is a revolutionary creation (despite it's origins).
In my mind, the same is true of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. It's just so completely different from what I remember from the original series. And, in my opinion, Friendship is Magic is just as revolutionary for cartoons as MGS was for video games. Everything from top to bottom is superb! Animation, storyline, voice acting, production quality, music, humor. And that quality never declines from episode to episode! I've watched a lot of cartoons over my 34 years, and overall I believe it is the best one I've seen yet! A show has to be amazing to be targeted to one audience and attract a die hard audience from such a completely different, more mature demographic!
EDIT: Speaking of creepy, I just read "Cupcakes" (I'm a realtively new Brony). You know what's sad? Pinkie Pie was my favorite, but after reading "Cupcakes".......I just can't look at her the same way again.

Yeah, I read it too. I'm a 12-year-old, and I find it helps to just not think about it for several days. It almost worked... until I read the sequel (made by a different person) O_O It was pretty much the same, except Pinkiepie does it to... Rarity... and it's even more disgusting and horrible. Seriously, Do not read it. Anyways, just watch some heart-warming MLP episodes again and just forget about the Cupcakes fanfic.

See, now that you said "Seriously, Do not read it", I feel like I have to to know what everyone's talking about, but...at the same time...I just don't think my heart can stand the gut-wrenching horror of.......shivers.....Cupcakes.....plus Rarity is my second favorite, and reading about her being hacked up to pieces is just......vomits.......
In actuality, I've kinda forgotten about Cupcakes...its just slipped my mind, and, as I write this, I start to feel like it never happened. I feel like I know the real Pinkie Pie would never do anything like that. I feel....better.

Yeah, that's what happened to me. You still remember the details but it kind've just slips your mind and doesn't feel as brutal. I guess most of the fright caused by the fanfic was due to shock. And I doubt many people here have read the "sequel" since it's hard to find, I just came upon it by chance. But please don't search for it. Rarity is my favorite and I don't want more people having the image of the (even more brutal, gory and heart-breaking then the first, IMO) fanfic in their mind. shivers

So nice that "Super Fluttershy Land 2: Six Elements of Harmony" was released on VC today. [youtube:VmXF_x5yEC0] Fluttershy is "weak and helpless", even by her own admission. YEAH, RIGHT! Not buying it anymore, gurlfriend! (I was going to post this in the September 29th North American releases thread at the home page, but I didn't want to get run out of Nintendo Life by people carrying torches and axes, LOL... I remember last time I posted where I wasn't supposed to, even though accidental.)
