I've enjoyed Mario Tennis, but I've done most of what you can in the game, and will probably leave it for a while. However, I think I will go back to it the next time there's a downloadable character, and will probably play the game quite a bit then, thus keeping me interested in the game and providing a kind of longevity.
I realise it's been around for a while, but I've not had much experience of downloadable content.
I raise this because I wonder if downloadable content provides a problem for reviewers. It's a problem that seemingly isn't there to the same degree for reviewers of books or movies. When someone reviews a book, I'ts more definitive (although there are occasions where information is out of date, etc.); whereas with downloadable content, a game's worth is potentially evolving over time.
So, I'd be interested to hear thoughts on this from reviewers on Nintendolife and elsewhere, as well as from the general Nintendolife community.
As most people on this site have probably gleaned, I'm skeptical on whether NSMB2 is worth a purchase, and have doubts as to how 'new' it is. However, if the promised downloadable content is good and innovative, I might have to give the game a second look, especially if perhaps at a later date you could download the actual game at lower than the retail price. Just a thought.
An unrelated thing that just made me realize I might actually buy NSMB2: I have almost $30 of eShop credit. That would make the game only $10 or so, and at that price I'm more forgiving towards a lack of innovation.
