Hi nintendo life, I just recently got into nintendo after watching some n64 videos. I am getting into nintendo and the first series i want to play is zelda. Do you know where to start? thanks
If you haven't gotten into Nintendo, I'd suggest getting into Mario by playing any of the Super Mario series. Start off with Legend of Zelda: A link between Worlds with the 3DS. Getting the Wii U and 3DS allows you to experience lots of exclusive games by Nintendo which are very accessible.
I'd suggest Ocarina of Time. While I wouldn't say it's the best Zelda (Majora's Mask is easily my favourite), it's still a fantastic game, and a good starting point for the series.
Yeah, I agree with both. If you have a 3DS, I recommend either Ocarina of Time or A Link Between Worlds depending on whether you prefer 3D or 2D.
If you just have a Wii U, on the other hand, get (my personal favorite and what I think is the best entry point) The Wind Waker HD or A Link to the Past, again depending on whether you enjoy 3D or 2D games more.
I'd suggest Ocarina of Time. While I wouldn't say it's the best Zelda (Majora's Mask is easily my favourite), it's still a fantastic game, and a good starting point for the series.
I'd have to argue against that. While I agree that it is a great game, I don't feel that it is the most accessible in the series. If we are assuming this is someone completely new to Zelda style games, I would suggest one of the newer console Zelda's: Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, or Skyward Sword. You can play all of those on the Wii U (or the Wii for the second two). I think those will be the most accessible for @DPz_Danger.
Wind Waker should be a pretty good entry point, thanks to just how tight it is. This is also why it's my favorite in the entire series. It's all business and little to no chaff.
If you're more into 2D games, A Link to the Past and Minish Cap should be excellent, cheap entry points as well. If you want a more recent experience and don't mind paying a bit more for it, by all means fo got the excellent A Link Between Worlds.
Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time are the two proud parents of basically every 3rd person action, adventure, and platforming game since 1996. The mechanics and conventions that they invented and pioneered are still industry-standard today. They are among the most influential and important 3D games ever made.
And both of them are available in the Wii Virtual Console store.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
I'd suggest Ocarina of Time. While I wouldn't say it's the best Zelda (Majora's Mask is easily my favourite), it's still a fantastic game, and a good starting point for the series.
Majora's Mask is easily one of my least favorites, but I agree Ocarina of Time (on N64 or 3DS) is a good place to start. Along with Link to the Past (Wii U VC or SNES) if you want to try 2D Zelda. Other than that it's up to you. Majora's Mask could be your favorite like the above poster...but be wary...the fanbase is hipster O_O
Wind Waker HD would be a good jump-on point if you have a Wii U (the Wind Waker on Gamecube was what really made me a huge fan of Zelda).
Ocarina of Time 3D and/or Link Between Worlds if you have a 3DS.
I would assume you don't have a Nintendo console in that case.
I mean you could find certain old games on the internet maybe but for actually buying and supporting Nintendo, I'd probably go with 3DS. I'd suggest probably starting with OOT 3D as Ocarina of Time is what every Zelda game after OOT is usually inspired by and it's as good a place to start as any. And in general 3DS is the cheaper system with the cheaper games so it makes the most sense as far as I'm concerned (there's a new version of 3DS coming out in less than a month!). Unless you really need that HD console gaming experience or something.
Well, if the N64 initially got you interested, than I don't see a better place to start than Ocarina of Time 3D on the 3DS. It was originally an N64 game after all, and it's a great game. Majora's Mask was also an N64 game, and that is coming real soon for 3DS as well. I would then play that after. You'll be pleasantly surprised how different the experience is, and you'll have that initial Zelda experience under your belt.
I'd suggest Ocarina of Time. While I wouldn't say it's the best Zelda (Majora's Mask is easily my favourite), it's still a fantastic game, and a good starting point for the series.
My first Zelda was OOT. It is one of the best starter Zelda games. Also I'd strongly recommend Super Mario 3D World, I promise you won't be disappointed.
