I went in to Hastings today to trade in some games, DVDs, and books, but for some reason they didn't even take in half my haul.
As for games, I had Super Smash Bros Brawl & Super Mario Galaxy (Don't hate me, my Wii broke 1 1/2 years ago). They took Brawl, but not Galaxy (which was in just as good shape).
For DVDs, there was Rush Hour collection, Karate Kid collection, the Forbidden Kingdom, Super Mario Bros, Iron Man Special Edition, & National Lampoon's Vacation. Here, they took everything except the Karate Kid collection. the Rush Hour collection was the only disc (game or movie) that actually had a scratch (there when I bought it new), and they took that, but not the Karate Kid collection.
As for books, I had three of those fancy Guinness Book of World Records books (2000, 2010, & 2010: Gamer's Edition), Zelda: Spirit Tracks Prima Guide, President Reagan: the Role of a Lifetime, Tom Clancy's End War, another Tom Clancy novel, and Jurassic Park. They were all in great condition, yet not a single one of them was accepted. I could possibly understand not taking the non-fiction books, as the information is probably outdated, but found it odd the fiction novels weren't accepted.
When I inquired why not everything was accepted, they said their computer told them that they no longer accept those particular releases. I thanked them for their time, and gladly accepted what I was able to trade in, but I still feel as if something was a little "off". What they could and couldn't take seemed a tad random to me. This was my first time trading in there, and want to ask if others had similar stories, or know more about their trade policies.

It's a large entertainment chain. They cary music (even licensed to carry iPods), movies (DVDs, downloads, & blu-ray, even have anime), games (for all current major systems), books (physical & digital, carry eReaders like Kindle Fire, and have manga), and other novelty items (posters, skateboards, some clothes). They also will rent out movies (maybe games too, not sure), and will take in trades for CDs, DVDs, games, & Books.
It may be regional, but although it's based in Texas, we have them up here in northern Missouri, which is why I think it's nationwide.

Well I dont know Nationwide but I have never heard of any of them in California. Sounds like a neat store though.

Yeah it looks like the nearest one to me is on the Cali-Arizona border which is like a 10 hour drive. If I did go there all my trade ins would go to gas.

It's OK Tasuki, I don't know about Hastings either. BTW, I found someone on MK7 with your name about 10 Hours Ago, was that you, or just a coincidence? Keep in mind I'm known as Kyloctopus online.

Nope that wasn't me unless someone stole my 3DS and returned it before I got home from work. Besides I haven't played MK7 for about a month now and if I do I rarely go online.
I wouldn't be surprised if its another Tasuki. I got the name from a character in a Japanese anime series.

Also, I forgot to say that in addition to manga, they also carry comic books.
They also have a large magazine rack. I won't say what they are here (but it should be obvious), but I've even spotted a couple well known magazines you wouldn't see at K-mart or Wal-mart.
Oh, they also have calendars, and as for the clothes, it's mostly graphic tees (game, band, ect.).

Ugh, just looking at that store locater shows me that the closest ones to me are the one on the Indiana-Ohio border and those in Northern Missouri. I'm always surprised by how many big chains lack stores in the Chicago area...
Anyway, back to the initial discussion of this chain's odd trade-in policy, the company may not have established the infrastructure to refurbish & distribute all used products, so they can't be like Gamestop who can just send whatever used games across the country to where they'll sell for max profit. Little/no demand = why bother with supply?
