I'm trying to create a custom Portal map, and I don't know how to add sound. I have the basic layout of the map done, I just need to add some sound, like GLaDOS' voice.
Right here is a list of all the sound entities in the Source engine. If you want it to work properly, you're going to have to use triggers, so be prepared to work with I/O commands.

But here's the thing, I created an Aperture_AI entity with a soundbyte from the game attached to it. I placed it right in the middle of the room, loaded the game, and nothing.
For such a fundamental question like "How do you make triggers?", you should be asking the experts. Otherwise, this topic could well turn into a 50 page FAQ on how to program in Valve Source. I don't know whether you're aware of the Valve Developer Community Wiki, but you should look to that for future reference.
My point is, if you rely on this thread, you'll have to wait for a response, whereas if you visit that site, you could learn the aspects of the SDK by reading through the detailed and comprehensive information given by people who really knowledgable on SDK.
Triggers, for example have their own page, and that should tell you what you need to know regarding triggers.
I don't understand it one bit, but I haven't learned programming yet.
@edhe I've visited the site countless times, and it's all technical jargon that I don't understand. I don't understand programming code, so I'm completely clueless.
@tendoboy1984 It's not programming code at all. It's mostly just simple commands that fire an output when the criteria of the command is met. It has nothing to do with programming at all. Seriously, if you don't know how to use pretty simple and necessary things such as triggers, you should really find some beginner tutorials that explain them. In almost every level in Portal there is at least one trigger. If you can't figure out how to use one trigger, then there's no point in trying to make a level in the Source SDK.

I would be using the Source SDK, but my PC hates it (and whatever I made probably wouldn't run on my PC) But i'm going to try out this Killing Floor SDK that I just got, hope it's good.
