I'd like to purchase an Xbox Series X...eventually. Purchase a PS5...eventually. Continue avoiding live service games, even though starting over in Skyforge when it releases on Switch next month is very tempting (F2P, no NSO sub required). And I'd like to become invested in more games that are outside my comfort zone (rpgs and all its sub-genres usually dominate my playlist).
Last year I branched out from the traditional Mario and Zelda games on Switch, by getting Fire Emblem and Dragon Quest's latest entries. I also played a Final Fantasy game (7R) for the first time in 2020, and discovered the Persona series, which is a godsend. Hopefully I can continue that trend.
Play the games I enjoy. It's very easy to get hung up on backlog and games that I've left unfinished, but money spent isn't coming back, and I'm unfortunately never going to have time to finish every game I own. Plus I often find I enjoy replaying games I know I love more than playing certain new titles. Gaming is about having fun, after all.
Don't buy any new games unless I'm convinced I will play them immediately, and for at least a few hours. It's easy to get sucked into sales and pre-orders, but I don't need to add more games to the ever-growing list of untouched titles.
Stop restarting the same games over and over again in hopes to get back into them. Either finish them while fresh in memory, try to recover that memory, or give up on them.
@kkslider5552000 for non-smash fighters I suggest My Hero One’s Justice and Blazblue Cross Tag Battle.
For games with LGBT characters, I’m pretty sure Murder by Numbers has a couple of them throughout the story. Don’t exactly remember cause it’s been a year but I faintly remember that.
As for my own gaming resolutions
-Buy less games, but complete more games. Last year I bought so many games I’ve hardly even played yet.
-Try out a game in the Touhou series. Preferably the new puzzle one. I’ve been wanting to try this series for a while now, and the Marine DLC in the newest one sealed the deal.
-Start to write game reviews. Basically either on YouTube or on here, write reviews on the games I finish. It should help me become a better writer.
2) 50% of games purchased this year must be new (i.e. published in 2021). I'll make an exception for humble bundles and/or games costing $3 or less, because... c'mon.
3) Complete the following Falcom games: Trails in the Sky SC; Trails in the Sky the 3rd; Ys Origin; Ys: The Oath in Felghana; Ys: Memories of Celceta; Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim.
4) Reduce my Nintendo Switch backlog to five games or less.
@MsJubilee I bought FF Type-0 HD on PS4 in 2015 or so and still have never even booted it up. Such a waste of money, lol.
@Ralizah Funny enough, I did that stunt with FF15 for the Xbox One. No idea why. I must have been interested. I bought it on day one. I opened it, and I just never even played it. That's just one instance I cringe at the other times I waste money.
The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
