I just watched No Game No Life, an anime about two shut-ins that threat everything as a game (and amazingly, they can survive five days with no sleep, much less get a proper nutrition). The visual presentation was pretty impressive, and the music wasn't half bad.

The premise of the story reminded me a lot of Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai Kara Kuru Sou Desu yo? where the law of the land revolves around playing games and winning to ascend in social status.

@Rocko52 if you like good art, then you should try Berserk. The art in that one is some of the best I've seen.

Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

So what's everyone trying out this Spring Season, there seems to be a lot(although doesnt seem to have a OMG MUST SEE show).

Fairy Tail - I love the manga and show already so I was going to watch it regardless, the character changes are alright (not sure how I feel about lucy)
Black Bullet- This looks to be a real enjoyable show judging by the first episodes, fast paced and not bad style with an interesting premise.
Nobunaga the Fool- This show is still going on, not sure when the season will end. Regardless its a good Mecha anime
Captain Earth- Has Potential , needs a few more episodes
Dai-Shogun –Great Revolution - This aims to be a comedy mech anime where sex is usually the punch line, unsure about continue watching.
No Game No Life- Still havn't watched but its on the list just due to the Art style.

Reading New Grappler Baki. I feel bad for Doppo. He loses his eye to Yujiro, then temporarily loses his left hand to Dorian from a piano wire, and now his face is covering with burn marks from the acid cause by Dorian when he tried to kidnap his wife. Doppo can't even get a break.

Black Bullet turned out to be a little bit better than what I expected. It's hard to say anything without giving away a few spoilers but the series does feature quite a bit of blood and gore, super human little girls, and firearms.

The story goes that humanity was nearly wiped out ten years ago by a parasitic species that's able to rewrite the DNA of its hosts through a virus.

The same virus indirectly created a group of superhuman little girls that hold the same strength and regenerative abilities as the parasite but with lesser side-effects.

So far, the human race has survived by surrounding itself with a line of monoliths made of a special metal that's harmful to these monsters.

If that wasn't bad enough, there's a dangerous (seemingly immortal) man running around who claims he will destroy the world.

I started Akuma no Riddle, and that one has a nice concept, though I'm cautious how it progresses.
Selector infected WIXOSS is still an uncertain case, since most of it is holding itself back and confuses a lot.
Blade and Soul is really bland and boring, so that one's dropped on my end.
Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou is really nice comedy, though I'm a bit worried about whether the quality will remain stable.
I guess the biggest disappointment is Soul Eater Not!, mosly because of the terribly unfitting art style.

@Astraea I was kinda impressed with Black Bullet, turned out to be better than what I feared it'd be.

Well I finished Magi Season 1. The ending seemed kinda rushed (and from what I've heard it deviated from the manga in several ways) but I'm definitely going to watch Season 2 sometime later. Well, now that I have April Break before me, time to marathon Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part 2: Battle Tendency, and hopefully after I'm done will catch up to Part 3: Stardust Crusaders. I'm also going to marathon the next arc of Hunter X Hunter, Heaven's Arena. If I can fit more anime in, I will.

BTW, haven't even gotten to it yet, but I have a feeling this will be the best anime of Spring 2014:

And now for your viewing pleasure:

Anime watching: Mobile Suit Gundam, Lupin III, & Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable
Reading: The Golden Compass

@Rocko52 I've watched the 2 episodes of Stardust Crusaders that are already out.
it WILL be the best if they keep up the animation quality, it's just perfect!!!
my only complaint is that they aren't using Yes music for the ED this time around!!!

Well, David Productions doesn't have the highest budget out there, but I'm sure their budget is bigger than with Season 1 due to it's success and Jojo's popularity, not to mention Part 3 is the most popular part. And even with a modest budget they were amazing with Season 1's visuals, so I wouldn't be worried.

sincerely, it's looking so good(up to now) that it looks like they DO have the largest budget out there! XD

@Intrepid Have you watched the second season: Toaru Majutsu no Index II? Also, I think Toaru Kagaku no Railgun (A Certain Scientific Railgun) is also worth the watch.

I've recently finished season 1 of Spice and Wolf as well as the first half of Season 2 (I was busy watching other stuff too, okay?). I decided then to go out and hunt down the remaining volumes of the LN not covered by the anime (at the time of posting, only Vol. 1-10 have been officially translated).

The further I read the light novels, the more I wish there'd be a Spice and Wolf III.

Having finally caught up on my Winter 2014 backlog of anime, I can summarize my thoughts on each one;

  • Witch Craft Works: Besides the pretty animation, some fun characters, and that ending (which I find more mesmerizing than good), there's nothing else worth praising. The narrative is a train wreck near both ends and the show gives off the illusion that it wants to criticize traditional shoujo series while also entirely embracing those tropes. I honestly can't recommend this to anybody.
  • Nobunagun: It's an action series that has a stupid premise and a few stupidly amazing scenes. Unfortunately the series can't really keep consistent amounts of stupid awesome as the rest of the content of the show shifts between, "that's interesting," to, "that's sub-par." If you're dying for action series, this can satisfy you until you get the next big thing.
  • Hamatora The Animation: Yeaaah, there are some problems with this show. While I like it, it doesn't really work well. And honestly, one of the strongest reasons it doesn't work is that the ending is a cliffhanger for the second season. There's so much left that's unexplained to the point where it's hard to get any satisfaction out of the show. For some reason though, I'm on board for season 2.
  • World Conquest Zvezda Plot: Out of all of the (exclusively) Winter 2014 shows I watched, this was the best. It's a bit hard to say why I like this show, mostly because it's a hard show to summarize. Besides the goofy characters and bizarre situations, there's tons of serious moments that can and will evoke some amount of empathy. It's extremely strange and I'm not sure how A-1 Pictures or director Tensai Okamura pulled it off. That said, I'm happy about this series existing and I'm sure it's one of the few highlights of the Winter 2014 season.

And wow, I only completed four shows that aired in the Winter 2014 anime season. Of course, I finished the leftovers from Fall 2013 (most of which were awesome), but four seems like a surprisingly small number. Hopefully more shows from the Spring 2014 season will keep me interested.

I think I found another anime worth watching this season called Mekakucity Actors. I felt like it had a strong Monogatari vibe to it as the first episode featured some of the same recurring elements from the series such as: exaggerated head tilts; impudence; supernatural abilities; and image shifting.

Supposedly the OP animation contains some spoilers so you might want to avoid looking at that near the end, the song is pretty good though.

Toonami Saturday night!

Space Dandy - it was a repeat tonight, but as I missed it the first time around it was new to me Pretty funny episode, too.

Bleach - This one was pretty consistent with it's action, so it was pretty good.

Naruto Shippuden - Wow, this episode was totally trippy, lol. Some great action, too.

One Piece - Really great episode. I'm really starting to get invested in all the characters & their stories. Good stuff.

Blue Exorcist - Good continuation to last week's story, and it's nice to see them start working as a team.

Black Lagoon - Oh wow, what an unexpected theme O_O Can't wait to see how they're going to get themselves out of this one.

And has been pointed out already, they had a promo for Attack on Titan tonight. D
Can't think of anything that's going to be ending next month, so it'll probably replace Space Dandy (which is on a second run).

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

Oh yay. The only thing Attack on Titan needs is more popularity

Jokes aside, I haven't started but I'm not liking how rapidly it's infiltrated anime culture. I feel like I'm being left out of one giant injoke for not watching it

Also, someone gave me the premise for One Week Friends and now I really want to watch it. I'm somewhat cautious because the last amnesia-based anime I watched was Golden Time (and the amnesia was most definitely a bad thing) but this one is by Brain's Base and I like those guys. They're good guys.

always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)
