32. Grew up with NES and owned every Nintendo home console. Had a gameboy then missed all other portables until 3DS and Switch. Hated Sega (yaknow, US console war) until we got a Genesis 3 in the late 90's, then we got a Dreamcast which was awesome until they cancelled it.
First game I ever played was Super Mario Bros. Hits kept coming from my father's pawn shop hunting, and despite not being a gamer himself he got lots of advice from his younger coworkers on which NES games were the best. Got a subscription to Nintendo Power in the early 90's just after the launch of the SNES.
28 here. Started out on NES at an age I was too young to remember (though I vaguely remember pausing SMB so Mario wouldn't fall down a pit).
Luckily, I've had access to a variety of consoles, so while I have a soft spot for Nintendo, I'm pretty platform agnostic.
Started out with NES, then we got an SNES for our room & my dad got a Genesis for the main TV (my cousins also had a Genesis, which is where I played it mostly). Next gen we again got a N64 for our room, while dad got the Playstation for the main TV, and my mom bought me a used Gameboy Pocket at a garage sale around this time as well (it didn't come with any games, so my first was a Ninja Turtles tile some kid simply gave me at recess at school). Next gen was PS2 & GBA, though I picked up a GCN at the tail end of the gen. After that we were all decked out with an Xbox 360 (we won this), Wii, DS, and a few years in, PS3. This gen started out pretty slow as I just had the money for a 3DS (and my dad got out of getting new systems, and has exclusively played the same MLB the Show title every day for the past 10 years, no exaggeration), but in the past few years I've been in a better position & bought both a Switch and then PS4.
There was also a brief period where I played PC games after we got our first computer, but I only really remember playing Age of Empires II during this time.
49 so I'm winning so far! I started off with the Binatone TV Master which basically only played Pong but then moved onto computers with the BBC Micro and Acorn Archimedes before getting into consoles with the PS1 then PS2, PS3, PS4. My first Nintendo system was the GBA then the Gamecube, DS, 3DS, Wii, Wii U and now Switch. From Microsoft I've had the original Xbox and XBox 360. I've also owned the PSP and still got my PS Vita. I've always built my own gaming PCs
Let me see... born in ‘84... January... it’s 2019 now... September... Ah. Yes I have it.
35 years old.

Had this whole thing typed up then i accidentally deleted it 😭. 31 going to be 32 in 2 weeks. Been playing since nes. I had alot more typed out but......ya
24 years old (25 in 16 days though), started with my older sister's Gameboy Color, then occasional PS1 games since cousin has it. But after I have my own Gameboy Advance SP as reward for good ranking, I'm firmly on Nintendo.
Especially since I got Nintendo DS Lite, then 3DS.
20 year old here. First Nintendo product a Game Boy Color and first console an N64. Have had at least one iteration of every console since then. Have had other consoles as well, but with only one exception I've preferred the Nintendo ones every time.

I have always wanted a Game Boy... then a Game Boy Color... and a Game Boy Advance... but I just didn't have the money and I never asked for such expensive luxuries from my folks.
My first console (handheld or otherwise) was a Nintendo DS, purchased in June 2005 (I had recently turned 16 then), and bought a Wii in late 2008. I have only ever owned Nintendo hardware and outdated PCs. I have recently bought an Alienware laptop to replace my late 2011 MacBook Pro. I don't often use it for gaming (I figured I could kill two birds with one stone as I occasionally shoot/edit 4K footage), and overwhelmingly prefer the Nintendo Switch for gaming, even if a superior PC version is available.
Since the DS/Wii, I have gone on to purchase a number of 3DSes, Wii U, and Switch. I am considering buying the Zacian and Zamazenta Switch Lite for those odd situations where I might want to have a quick gaming session without having to carry my bag with me (though I may buy a smaller bag specifically for the Switch Lite). I can't see myself using it too often though as I will miss the tactility of HD rumble, and tabletop mode is great when waiting for food at cafes/restaurants.
I’m a spritely 37 this year. Started with a Spectrum ZX and Game Gear when I was about 9. Aside from the Game Boy I was a self-confessed SEGA fanboy back in the 90s. It wasn’t until I got an N64 for my 16th birthday (and ushered in the age of 4 player Goldeneye, Mario Kart, F Zero X and Perfect Dark) that I became a true Nintendo fan. The Wii and Virtual Console solidified it and I supported the Wii U too.
BTW can’t remember where I read it but the average age of a gamer is actually about 35. Makes sense; it’s a long standing hobby and we’re more likely to have (some) disposable income (if a teenage me could see my collection he would have died of shock!)
Averages being in the thirties isn't that strange; Gaming has become more mainstream over the past fifteen years. When I was a kid the hobby was still considered for kids or man children.

Most of high school for me in a nutshell. Though that was a combination of living in bum nowhere (so less of a mix of diverse interests) and not being into most stereotypical dudebro games like Call of Duty and Halo.
Currently playing: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch)
