I’d rather they leave the new branding off, the New Mario Bros ending up meh after awhile and Yoshis New Island was very poor. I hoping it’s not an omen that New Pokemon Snap will be rubbish.
Here's a better idea: Nintendo should stop slapping "New" in front of everything because it makes for pretty dumb naming conventions, or in the case of Yoshi's New Island and NSMB2, games that just drop of the radar and miss the mark entirely

Nothing really. The "New" title only made sense because they were reviving an old formula that people had thought was dead.
There aren't really any other series that have that situation. Like with Zelda, they never abandoned the old style. They just moved it to handheld instead, and now have it on the Switch in Links Awakening. So there's no need to use "New" in the title.
The only example I can think of that would make sense is with the 2D Donkey Kong games. Except they only ever made that 1 3D game, so it never really became known as a 3D series in the same way Mario did.
It doesn’t need to be ‘New’, or a dead style of games. I’m asking, “What game series do you thing should get a spin-off series or whatever you call it?” and comparing it to NSMB as an example.
Heigh Ho Heigh Ho. It’s off to work (from home) I go.
@Shulkalot yeah I would like a 2.5D excitembike. I wish Nintendo would reinvent some of their older games like excitebike, balloon fight, ice climbers at a more budget price.

NSMB isn't really a remake or a spin-off, it's just a new entry in the main series.
If we're just talking about a new entry in a series, I'd go with either Chibi-Robo or Baten Kaitos.
A modern Chibi-Robo game would have a ton of potential, especially on a modern console. Unfortunately the chances of it happening are pretty low at this point, but I still have hope.
Baten Kaitos deserves more spotlight. An HD port of the first 2 games would be nice, but I'd love to see a fresh take on the world. It doesn't have to be a direct sequel/prequel like Origins was, just something with a similar style and combat system to breathe new life into the series. A third game was apparently planned shortly after the release of Origins, but was cancelled due to unknown circumstances.
Why this thread not in with other thread of the remake of choice gaem? Bah. I will like to be playing New Game Watch mans. Only this time, mister Game man Watch you! Sell tens copies

@Cynas Unfortunately, Baten Kaitos is probably going to remain dead. The IP is owned by Bandai-Namco, while Monolith Soft is now owned by Nintendo. It was basically Nintendo's first attempt at creating their own JRPG juggenaut (besides Pokemon technically), something Xenoblade ended up being. So I doubt they'll touch it again, the Xeno series is on the edge of mainstream acceptance in terms of sales. They'll probably try and focus on getting that over that threshold instead.

I don't think circumstances were unknown. It was canceled because Baten Kaitos Origins sold like lukewarm crap. Which sucks as it is my 2nd favorite jrpg. Poor thing had no chance coming out like 3 months before the Wii.
