So what did you guys think? I'm thinking of picking this one up but want to see some first impressions/reviews first...

Viking Invasion
Publisher: BiP Media
Players: 1
ESRB Rating: E (Everyone) – Mild Fantasy Violence
Price: 800 Nintendo DSi Points
Description: They come from the North, and they're about to invade your Nintendo DSi system. Beware of Olaf the Viking and his motley crew. Even now, their drakkars are sailing up the rivers to attack your castles. It's up to you to construct fortifications to prevent them from pillaging everything you own. The more you defend yourself, the more ferocious they'll become. Before you know it, they'll be invoking legions of fantastic creatures straight out of the mythical land of Asgard. Fortunately, the experience you gain will help you to build even more powerful defenses. Thwart all your assailants' ruses and unlock new kinds of buildings: tornado-blowing windmills to repel the ships, monoliths that strengthen your fortifications or canons that shoot studded shells. Discover more than 10 levels, tons of units, a Campaign mode, a Survival mode and three difficulty levels. There's even a little surprise at the end. Can you rise to the challenge and stop Olaf from taking your treasure home to his sweetheart Olga?

I like it, it's my kind of game. I like how you can pause it to upgrade your towers before the next wave comes in. I can see how certain kinds of gamers might not like it, but it is a quality game.

Downloaded it today, found it kind of "cheap" in the Adventure mode (cheesy animation, titty clamps on dudes LOL, etc) but I do like the battle modes contained within. It's not the greatest game in the world, by a long shot, but the music is great and the ideas behind this are good. I give it a 7 out of 10. In other words, get Battle of Giants: Dragons first, then this, and don't even bother with SparkleShots whatever.

Dragons is a completely different genre so I don't think those are really comparable.

Actually, it's called stylized art, but if you see tittie clamps there, rock on with your bad self. This game is awesome, I've been playing it since I got it. It's got quite a bit of strategy to it for a dsiware game, imo. I still can't beat the last stage, even on easy.

Fun little title. Like the music, easy to learn gameplay. Enjoyable, quirky mid-map banter. The weapons and upgrade system gives me something to do while waiting for invaders to get slaughtered and it's nice to have a pause option for the really intense moments when some upgrades might be needed.

Pretty cool DSiWare title. 8/10. Wouldn't mind some DLC with new missions, buildings, weapons and upgrades.

Um, the cheesy thing was kinda the point. The production values on this game are really quite good.

I disagree. The production values are awful. It's a so-so game, but I wouldn't recommend it. Try downloading Battle of Giants: Dragons instead, at least the animation and layout deems it more worthy of the 800 pt price tag.

The game looks like a flash game. That's not a good thing, and saying it's artistic direction is just defending the undefendable.

It's an okay game, but I don't know if it's wroth 800. Yes I own it.

On a side note it's a good way to fell asleep. Make some dowers in the endless mode or whatever and you'll eventually get bored and pass out by around the 70-90th wave. lol
