The minigames were amazing. There also was super mario 64 remade but that was just the filler you had to get through to play the minigames. Spending hours in the casino with luigi. Those were the days.

As amazing as the mini games are, the game itself is a little frustrating. It was designed for analog movement and using the the Dpad is very clunky.

And the touch screen control is even worse.

I wouldn't say it helps too much, since it behaves just like the Dpad... But I guess it "feels" better.

People tend to complain about the d-pad a lot, but I loved it back when I played it. If you want to play it now, use a 3DS and problem solved.

@ekreig Actually, as a 3DS owner, I can say that circle pad works like a charm, it's almost as if the game was designed with it in mind.

Love the remake better than the original. Lots of things to do, fun Mini games and best of all, four playable characters! Where can you go wrong in that? I never had any issues with the controls and I can see why some wouldn't like the D-Pad as movement. But still, I might play it all the way again when time comes.

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

I recall my family friend having Super Mario 64 DS, and now I really want it >u<

I'm getting worked up in all the complexity of owning a 3DS and not thinking it's good enough, or fretting of having an ugly theme, when all I want to do is relive old DS games.

this game was great, and those touch screen mini games were amazing and definitely ahead of their time. i actually was hunting for this game for awhile just to play those mini games again. i really wish we would've gotten mario 64 remade for 3ds though, similar to zelda, or at the very least as a 3d classic.

The minigames are exactly the same as the one in NEW Super Mario Bros. aren't they? Those were pretty awesome and something I missed in NSMB2

@ShanaUnite: I was addicted to the minigames! When I was staying up all night writing my dissertation I would periodically take a break to play some of the minigames. It kept my mind sharp so I could then stay focused on my work.

I loved that game! The minigames were pretty good. I loved the slide level so much that I accidentally found the last star I needed:). I really wish I had a chance to get three people to play the vs mode.

I remember this being the case having both games. My wife and I would play against each other on our DS Lites all the time.
