@z3lda Just adding to Eel's post. We're all surprised and baffled that Wind Waker hasn't come to the switch. There's probably a way to play it on pc via emulator, but I wouldn't know about that.
@WoomyNNYes I don't know that I'd call most of us "baffled".
The originals were made available with NSO in 2022, Skyward Sword got an HD release in 2021, Hyrule Warriors was released in 2020, Link's Awakening got its remake in 2019, and Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition came to Switch in 2018.
That's a pretty consistent stream of Zelda content.
Now, I'll give you that 2022 didn't technically have any "new" entry, but even so. Nintendo knows precisely what they're doing, and they will re-release previous entries when they are good and ready, not a moment before.
We've been wise to their playbook for a while now.
At this moment the Wii U is the best way to play it. Hands down. Also the Wii U happens to also be the best way to play Wii games so it's still a platform worth picking up used. The only downside to it will be the GamePad. I'm not sure how much confidence I'd have in a used GamePad.....
Also I'm not sure how much people are charging for Wii U games used these days. I assume far more than is reasonable

"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"
The best version is in the Wii U (to be honest it is way better than the original that had this frustrating sea trevel) but the eshop closes in a couple of days and the physical copies are somewhat expensive. I may have to suggest cemu unfortunately.
@WoomyNNYes Nintendo were caught removing Pikmin 3 from the Wii U eshop (a Nintendo Selects game) when the Switch port was announced which caused massive backlash. You couldn't even buy the Wii U DLC if you already owned the game on Wii U.
It was eventually re-added but Nintendo clearly have an issue with Wii U version being a lot cheaper for almost the exact same content (a small amount of extra content was in the Switch port). Wouldn't be particularly surprising if Nintendo want the 3DS/Wii U eshops gone before going further into Nintendo Selects territory of which Wind Waker HD is a Nintendo Select. The other common theory getting around the pricing situation would've been to bundle Wind Waker HD with Twilight Princess HD which was rumoured but in the end turned out to be fake.
@z3lda if you can’t get a Wii u then try and get a gamecube. If you can’t get a gamecube then get a wii. Nintendo has made this game really accessible over the years. 3 generations of consoles it was playable in.
We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

Forgive me for painting with such a wide brush. I skipped Wii, Wii U generations. So, to me it seemed baffling. Since Wii, Wii U, and 3DS had virtual consoles, I thought it made sense to expect that Wind Waker was coming to the Switch. My money was ready.
On top of that, nintendolife and other sources/content creators, talked about ports of Wind Waker coming to the Switch like it was it was a safe assumption, or a given. So, that's where I was coming from.
