Topic: DSi Questions

I have been researching the DSi, and I think I am going to ask for one for Christmas. I have a few questions, and am hoping to find some help here

I know that there is an SD card slot. Does the system come with a SD card? How much can it hold? Do I have the option to buy a bigger SD card if I want to be able to download more games/audio files?

And as far as internet use, I read that the DSi doesn't support websites where a flash player is required. Does anyone know of, or think there is a chance of Nintendo coming out with a flash player download for the DSi?

Lastly, I am excited for the mini games that can be downloaded. What are your favories from DSiWare? What DS cartridge games are minigames? Even as an adult, I love some of the games on Webkinz and Facebook like Farmville. Can anyone recommend any games like that, either downloadable or cartridge?

Anything else I need to know? Thanks so much!

SD CARD:
No, it does not come with an SD card. The system does support any kind of SD Card, though. So you could buy any size. I only have a 2 GB one, but I'm perfectly fine with it. If you think you're going to have tons of games and music, though, you might want a larger one.

WEB BROWSER:
I don't think so. That's mostly from hearing from several other people that the DSi is incapable of handling flash, even with an update. I don't know for sure, but I wouldn't count on it.

GAMES:
I'm not really sure what to reccomend, because I don't know what kind of games you like, so;

Here's a list of all DS games
http://ds.nintendolife.com/games

And here's a list of all DSiWare games
http://dsiware.nintendolife.com/games

Most of them have reviews. If you want my personal recommendations, the Mario vs DK and Bomberman, but it really depends on taste when it comes to games.

So, anything else you need to know? Mmm, I can't think of anything. Other people may give more specific recommendations for games (I wasn't much help there). I hope you enjoy your DSi!

well i can tell you the system does not come with an SD card BUT you can get SD cards up to 32GB that it can support.
The DSi doesn't support flash, and it probably never will because of the size, BUT it will have a channel that works in conjunction with the same wii channel that allows you to watch special videos.
AS for the games, i dont buy many DSi ware games, but if you want some game recommendations id say:
Mario and Luigi: Bowsers Inside Story
Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks or Phantom Hourglass
Starfox Command
The Professor Layton games
Metroid Prime: Hunters
New Super Mario Bros
and if you like games with level editors id recommend Mario vs Donkey Kong; March of the Minis for DS or Minis March Again for DSiWare!
Hope that helped!

So I will be able to play both DS and DSi games in my DSi?

Thank you all for your help! I really appreciate it My husband is the gamer, and I am all new to this, but I am so excited.

If your into mini-games, then I recommend these retail games:
Professor Layton: Curious Village- It's a puzzle game that is comprised of over a hundred brain teasers, the story in the game is really interesting as well: its a mystery type game with a lot of twists.
Professor Layton: The Diabolical box - haven't actually played this one yet, but I loved the previous game so...
Mario Party DS - Uses a board-game style gameplay that has you play a minigame with your opponents after every turn. Who ever wins the minigame gets a lot of coins. You need coins to buy Stars that you can usually only purchase when you walk on the spot where the star is being sold. When the particular game finishes, the one with the most stars/coins wins! There is a variety of Minigames to unlock as you progress in the game and you can do multiplayer with who ever has a DS locally (you only need one ds card for multiplayer).

animal crossing well like the mighty sim games [except castaways and urbz also the my series and pet] all you do in the game is live your life you can make friends with the animal neighbors or get the biggest house or go online and play [my score 8]
scribblenauts a adventure where you write words on the touch screen and then use the stuff to help you get pass [my score 9]
carnival games is a minigame thing that many gamers will hate it or love it i thought it was good with i think 28 minigames and 2 player this game is pretty good [my score 7]
mario and sonic winter games a minigame collection with the best minigames anywhere with the dream events [my score 10][i only played wii but i watched my friend with the ds [his score 9]

Thanks for all the game suggestions... I have quite a game wishlist started. LOL As far as the DSi LL, I did read about it, and while I think it is nice, one of the reasons I am so excited for the DSi is that beautiful bright pink color. I am such a girl. I will be taking it with me lots of places, and I think the smaller size will travel better.

My game recommendations for DSiWare would be:

Mighty Flip Champs - Fun puzzle/maze type game.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong - Another puzzle platform game. They're both great to just play in short bits (a couple levels at a time), and are fun to problem solve.
Art Style: Addicting puzzle games. Pictobits is my favorite, but you can't lose with any of them really, I think.

A retail game you might like is Cooking Mama...it's a little minigame cooking challenge. Lots of fun!

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

Perhaps sometime in the future.

Lastly, I am excited for the mini games that can be downloaded. What are your favories from DSiWare?

Mighty Flip Champs, Thorium Wars, the ElectroPlankton games, the Art Style games, Flipnote Studio, Dr. Mario express, and a few others.

Uh oh. He's back.

If you're looking for games that have mini-games I would recommend New Super Mario Bros which is not only a solid platforming game but also includes some super addictive mini games and puzzles. On DSiWare Mario vs DK Minis March Again is an addictive puzzle game, and excellent value for money at 800 points.

If you're looking for DSiware minigame-type-things, try the Art Style Games (namely PiCOPiCT/PiCTOBiTS or KUBOS/precipice if you like minigames), or Paper Plane/Paper Airplane Chase! and Pyoro/Bird & Beans.

Also, my parents love Germ Buster from Brain Training (which is the same as Dr. Mario), and M vs. DK: MMA!
