Topic: Charging Dsi

This happens every time I charge my Dsi: I'll charge my Dsi until the orange light goes out, and then I decide to play my Dsi without unplugging it, 15-30 minutes later while I'm playing it the orange light goes on and stays on. I turn off my Dsi when I'm done playing and the orange light stays lit for some time. Is there something wrong? Does this happen to you? Does the Dsi use power faster than the outlet can give it?

I'm half pig, half man, and half dog.

Sometimes when playing the DSi with the charger plugged in (when charged fully) the DSi end will be aligned incorrectly for about half a second, and when it gets aligned right, the orange light turns on again because in the half-second that the DSi end of the charger came loose, you used energy. Thus, the orange light comes back on.

However, I have had experiences when the handheld was charged fully and the DSi was turned off at the same time, and when I take it out and plug it back in, the orange light goes on again. I don't have a good explanation for this.

That's gotta be the most well-worded thing I've ever posted, next to my post in the VC vs. WiiWare thread.

I'm gone. Good f*cking bye.

The DSi along with all the other versions all run off of the battery, not the charger line. Even if you have it plugged in it will run off the batter. The reason the charge light turns on is the battery runs down enough that it starts to charge again.

I'm not sure if it's a problem for current rechargeable batteries, but it used to be bad for them to keep them constantly fully charged, so it wasn't recommended to leave them constantly plugged in and that's probably why the DSi isn't designed to be constantly powered by the AC adapter. I know my old Powerbook would wait till the battery went down to 95% before it would charge again just to make sure the battery wasn't constantly being charged, so there's probably a certain threshold you have to go below before the DSi battery starts to charge again.

This happened with mine too it just means you're using power faster than it takes to go through the line and into the battery. I'm not sure if that means the battery needs to be replaced because I just had mine fixed for other reasons.
