ok so i might have to trade in my DSi for a new one but will i get 1000 free points again or have they already expired

Why would you have to trade you DSi in? I'm curious. The offer just ended on October 5th(In the United States) but if you are having problems with your DSi you do have a one year warranty with Nintendo. I recommend calling them and setting up a repair. If it is within the warranty time frame then they will fix it for free and you won't lose any of your DSiWare games.

Maybe he got some games he didn't like so he was gonna try again with another 1000 points XD... I kid.

You live in the US, and if my memory is allright, the 1000 free points promotion has ended somewhere this month.
But you have problems and you haven't spent those 1000 points, right? If so, they'll be transfered to a replacement DSi.
