Has anyone switched their Amiibo to Mario Party 10 data and then gone back to Smash? Will the games restore the backup data so that you can use the Amiibo for both games?
No. If an amiibo is used for a second game that writes data, the first game's data will be erased. If you use Mario on Mario Party 10, his Smash data will be erased.

What happens to the backup that the game has then? For instance, if your write fails in Smash, it will restore from a backup that it has. It seems odd that they wouldn't let you restore from that backup if it sees another game's data.
Well, I tried it and there is really no way to restore from different games. That is terrible. Guess I'll have to get a little ARM board to dump my saves and restore them as I need them.
Bah, forget that, I have to solve this problem! Going to get a Raspberry and NFC-USB dongle to see if I can get a little script to dump the data and restore myself. From what I've read it looks like they didn't encrypt anything, and people already have dumped the data.
