Topic: Are the Animal Crossing: Welcome Amiibo cards discontinued?

I haven’t been able to find any of the Welcome Amiibo cards. I’m wanting to add a few to my collection, but can’t seem to find them in stores - and the prices on Amazon are ridiculous.
Have they been discontinued?

Last time I asked for them at a gamestop, well about three of them, they told me they didn't sell them anymore.

I guess they got discontinued in silence.

You should be able to find some in Amazon or eBay though.

From what i can determine each series shipped and was never replenished. Series 1 was heavily purchased by retail chains and then they sat on the cards and eventually had to clearance them. Some retail chains didn't buy any of the subsequent series if they did it was in far fewer numbers.

I didn't even realize there was a second series much less a third and fourth until I went in to a Best Buy and saw them all available. It looks like anyone who is still stocking them only has series 4 now such as Amazon, or a few straggling packs of earlier series depending on if your local store still has some hanging around.

I live in Arizona and last place I saw any were at Toys R Us and now those are gone too. I picked up quite a few clearanced series 1 packs at Target before they were all gone. Almost have a complete series 1 set after picking up way too many packs to admit to.

Series 1 and Welcome Amiibo are the rarest. Series 1 more so. I can't find any reasonably priced complete boxes online.

Series 2-4 should still be available in relative abundance.

I wish Nintendo would restock the Sanrio set. I missed out when they briefly had them available via their official ANZ eBay store, but they had only a ridiculously small number of them in stock. Scalpers are charging obscene amounts for them, sadly, and God knows what condition they're in.

@KittenHime
Try from Ebay.
There are some users sell the Amiibo cards with reasonable prices.

@sillygostly the odd part is that my regional amazon never really carried the the series after 2, resellers had them for stupid prices, but never amazon itself.

They still sell series 1 and 2, though.

The only reason I have six welcome amiibo cards is because I happened to find them at a gamestop a year ago.

(Other than that I do have one series 3 card I bought off eBay. Simply because it's mom's favorite neighbor)

I was able to grab full sealed retail boxes of series 2-4 and the Welcome Amiibo series, but only one box (maybe series 3 or 4) included a full set, which was quite aggravating and disheartening all things considered.

I'll probably try to grab the missing cards eventually (I have plenty of duplicates for trading), but I want to source a full series 1 box, and the only one I can find on eBay is from some scumbag who has hoarded a whole heap of them and is holding them at ransom for AU$700. The full retail value is AU$207.90 (at AU$4.95 per pack).

You may be able to find Series 1, 2, 3, and possibly 4 on Amazon addon orders but for New Leaf series forget it you'll be paying out of the nose for those. I've seen eBay and those prices are rip off prices for sets. Maybe I will have to jack hammer my wallet open for it but just for one or two set not break the Bank for it. If it was a Amiibo that would be a different story but for the most part I got all the Figure Amiibo for Animal crossing. The cards are a nice novelty to have but the asking prices I would spend on the Amiibo instead first.

It's possible that if and when we get a Switch Animal Crossing(and god I hope we do, and sooner rather than later!) that the cards might get re-released(and I would like that). But when Nintendo did Welcome Amiibo, they really dumped a lot of merchandise on the market and I think that contributed to low sales for the cards. Many collectors would prefer regular Amiibo figures to the cards.

What I want re-released is Series 4 and New Life. That will kill the Scalpers' market on eBay to where they would have to sell at the prices they were sold for.
