Hey there. I recently bought a 3ds, and i need more games. The problem is: Which one? Super mario and luigi RPG, Pokemon, or Animal crossing? If i buy the other two titles, SL Dream team or pokemon, i know what im buying, becaus ei've played titles in both of the series before. Animal crossing, on the other hand, i have absolutely no experience with. I've just heard great things. So I was wondering:
Why is animal crossing fun? What is there to do? What kind of gamers like it and what kind don't? Any games on other platforms you can compare it to? What titles should i like if i want to like animal crossing?

Is there anyone out there able to anwser some of my questions? If so, i thank you.

Animal Crossing is a very love-it-or-hate-it franchise, so its hard to say whether you will enjoy it or not.

You start with a home in a town, and get money by fishing, bug-catching, and other various methods. If you're a completionist you might enjoy trying to complete your fish or bug catalogs, which honestly is the only thing ever keeping me going in Animal Crossing games. You have neighbors who will talk to you, set up events and give you asinine tasks to complete, and the town you live in changes with time and seasons.

It's essentially a game built upon grinding, much like the Harvest Moon franchise, except it's built on a few more gameplay elements. If this sounds like something you'd enjoy, then give it a shot. If it doesn't however, I would say this isn't a franchise you should chance it with. I've known too many people that have said "I cant see how Animal Crossing is fun, but I guess I'll get one just to try it" and hated it. It's a game where everything you do is surface-deep, and the trailers for the game will basically show you what you need to know.

Worth noting though that it has multiplayer, and playing with friends and comparing towns/trading items is where a lot of the fun comes in, so if you have friends that are willing to play as well, that would probably lead to more enjoyment. It's also a more casual experience, one that encourages you to play for short periods of time every day, which unfortunately limits the way you can really play. If you don't play it regularly, you get punished. If you play for too long at once, you'll run very low on things to do.

That's pretty much my experience with Animal Crossing... Just collecting bugs 'n fish for an entire year and I'll call it a day (or year?).

If your going to get an animal crossing game for any game system I'd recommend all of them except the DS version. I absolutely hated Animal Crossing Wild World DS it's boring & literally there is nothing to do in the game. The rest of the animal crossing games are excellent.

Animal Crossing New Leaf - 3DS is my favorite by far though.

Looking forward to Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer 3DS!

Happy Gaming! (^_^)
