Topic: Used games restrictions?

Hi guys, I have some questions about buying used games, I browsed the net for it and I realized used games have no restrictions except for no getting points from N Club (which was shut down anyway, so nothing at all?) but two things still wonders me:

1. Did online multiplayer works as well? For example Smash Bros or Mario Cart 7? If yes, are there some games with ''special'' system that prevents that? I read that some games on DS were something like that.
2. What if a game got an update from Nintendo store? Can I still download this update?

There is no such things as used games - welcome to the digital future. (kidding)

Used games are almost always a great deal.
1. I have tons of used games, and have never found a problem with online play. However, there are games that don't allow you to fully delete the save profiles. Resident Evil Mercenaries is one example.
2. Yes, updates can still be downloaded.

There is no downside in buying used games in terms of the actual game and updates. Some online services have been shut down for old games, but that's for all copies, old and new.

The only thing I try to watch out for the few times I have bought used games is to actually test them (controls, possible freezing, etc.) to make sure the disk or cart isn't a lemon. That way, you can get a replacement or refund within the return policy's allotted time.

I've never had any problems personally, but I know someone who returned a used Wii game to Gamestop once because the disk couldn't be read. (The Wii had never had an issue before)

I know that wasn't a question of yours, but just a friendly heads-up!

Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet - The Indigo Disk, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)

The only two 3DS games I know of offhand where you can't delete all save data are:
1) Tales of the Abyss - some content carries over and can't be deleted, but it's generally not a big deal
2) Resident Evil Mercenaries - this one kind of is a big deal, I'd suggest going digital when it's on sale instead

On DS there were some games like this too. I know that Shiren the Wanderer wouldn't let you completely clear data - some actions would have persistent changes in the world that couldn't just be deleted.

A quick google search brought up this page, which lists a few more:
