Thanks! So far I'm enjoying it very much but I'm still sort of behind in the story, just taking my time and soaking in Alola.

I'll probably be avoiding this thread until I've beaten the game, but that should give me time to build a better team (though I am bad) and we can battle then! You can find my 3DS FC on my profile. (anyone else who wants it is also welcome to exchange)

For those new here, I've made a thread for any online purposes for sun and moon in online gaming section of the forums.

Ugh I'm starting to really hate SOS battles... it was fine during the playthrough but now that I'm completing the pokedex for shiny charm in a rush, its a pain to do so since every turn they call another pokemon and you can't ever throw a ball at them. They really need to fix the rate this happens... at least they should've gave a 2 turn minimum before another pokemon is called so I can false swipe, pokeball, and be done instead of false swipe, 6 sos calls later, pokeball..

I'm still in the beginning portion of the game, and already, I'm dealing with wild Pokemon calling for reinforcements, normal trainers using full heals and potions on their Pokemon, and one guy who combined a red card-holding Pokemon with the move Stealth Rock.

It's a bit of a shock going from the brain-dead lack of difficulty in X/Y to these games, which actually require the player to battle intelligently.

Grinded and finally got the destiny knot.

I might be in luck and not need to IV breed, I might get away with just using a regular ditto. Although bottle caps are surprisingly tricky to get given how long it takes to get shards..

EV training seems easier but idk how fast it'll be without pokerus, I hear there are shops in festival plaza you can stack up to get so many EVs at a time, and the bands are buffed to give double what they gave in gen 6... but BP grinding suuuuuccckkksss Dx

I guess its time for me to start building my first competitive team, the shiny hunting and perfect IV breeding shall wait until pokebank.. meanwhile i need to give myself something to play around with while I grind to finish the pokedex.

So now you can check your IVs from your PC box anywhere (daycare IV checker+Hidden power checker eeee!!) by simply toggling a button in the right corner of the PC.

and it's much easier to read.

From my guess, Fantastic means 31.

To unlock this, talk to the guy next to the PC at battle tree after hatching at least 20 eggs.

EDIT: Nope, actually it seems all ultra beast are guaranteed 3 perfect ivs and they all read as "Best". Fantastic must mean 30, while Very Good is 29>.

EDIT 2: my type: null has 4 perfect ivs, seems coincidental but I'm not sure. @Gridatttack are you able to confirm this by chance?

If you placed a flag for every country that has and hasn't it, you'd run out of space.

since i am in Europe and i am waiting the game to come out...Since its my first pokemon game i have a really stupid - i think- question!Is there a way to get all 3 starter pokemon from the beginning;;

@crok21 No, not until you amass a trading empire. Just choose your favorite and take it easy. This is a take it easy kind of game.

Anyway, who's gotten to that big, what feels like mid-game, story point? The one where you fight a certain bug-type user, like, eight times.

I've been playing Pokemon for a long time now, but only this gen I've been a bit more interested in competitive gameplay. I soft resseted until I got my female Popplio with the nature I wanted.

Does someone has a guide or a link that explains all of the IV/EV stuff? Don't really get it and want to make most of it, so I can raise a decent team and challenge all of you guys later xD

Competitive might be a little slow this gen, once we get some 6 IV dittos or pokerus mons we'll be able to go hard competitively. (x/y went faster since you can catch 2 IV dittos at friend safari super easy)

Right now I'm still struggling to breed competitive mons, if theory holds true either on the 5th or 25th encounter of SoS battles the pokemon is guaranteed 4 IVs and you can sos dittos. If somebody manages to farm those up a bit we might be able to clone those and get rolling. Or atleast come up with a fool proof strat to farm them cause I got swept when i tried... literally got swept by dittos using my own mons.

Meanwhile I'm farming BP for competitive items and completing my dex, cause prebank is just going to be impossible for me with my currently limited resources (I got a 31 iv defense popplio after breeding all day yesterday.. PROGRESS!)

Although if anybody wants to have in-game team battle royals or singles I'm down.

Oh well, just wait until the pokebank update happens. I bet you have a ditto box waiting in your gen VI games.

I know many players also received one of those suspiciously perfect shiny dittos during gen VI too.

I still need to figure out how to IV and EV stuff. Everytime I tried to research it, it is so vague that it doesn't make sense lol

@Meowpheel You can't prove that I have an entire box full of 6 IV dittos and one of every nature and all from different countries for masuda method....
