Seeing the stats, movesets, abilities and all of that. There's some pretty interesting stuff. Seems like most Pokemon all revolve around a gimmick. For example, take a look at Pyukumuku's moveset.. That's pretty funny. Not sure how useful they're all going to be in the competitive scene.
I just really, really hate how disappointing primarina and lurantis is...
Lurantis had potential with contrary being able to sweep like serperior.. but its too slow to do that, period, and there is no user speed decreasing moves in it's movepool.
Then on the contrary (heh), it has no way to buff its speed because it lacks chlorophyll for contrary and it doesn't even get agility..
Lurantis doesn't need a sun team, it needs a trick room team.. and after those 5 turns pass away, for you to set it, switch in lurantis, and then get +6 off leaf storm you're done and killed instantly.
Its like gamefreak tried in gen 6 to make older gen pokemon viable with megas, and this gen they tried their hardest to min max new pokemon but min maxed them in all the wrong stats.
We have terrain battles with the tapus, a new item that extends terrains to 8 turns (like heat rock in sun etc), more pokemon got weather abilities, a new move is light screen+reflect in a hailstorm for 4 turns (8 with light clay), and additionally everything this generation is as slow as dunsparce making trick room needed.
In addition they hard nerfed priority (gale wings, sucker punch, psychic terrain) making trick room more necessary for slower mons to work, additionally making it impossible/harder for priority users to punish trick room.
There is a lot of field play, and I don't know if I like it... in BW weather wars were.. eh it was bad because only one thing got drizzle (poli) and one got drought (ninetales), but in this gen we have to worry about weather + terrain + trick room + screens + entry hazards.. its going to be a mess battling..
Its just in excusable.. why completely kill pokemon like lurantis, vikavolt, gilsopod, just to make them work in trick room... the one condition that you have no way of boosting the duration of.
Like they had potential to give lurantis atleast 70 speed and give it paper defense and chlorophyll to be good, all it needed.. but instead its so low its literally like they were trying to troll us. Vikavolt is literally another escavalier.
@MegaBeedrill Looks like it. Why does Comfey have 100 Speed, but doesn't have a high enough Attack/Special Attack to really take advantage of it while having pretty good defenses?
