the problem is Gamefreak never jumped out of a gen right after it begun, if it was a romur about the third game in the 6th gen I'd believe but I won't fall for 7th gen so early, I think it's wise to give it a year minimum(as gen 6 was the smallest ever in terms of content, otherwise I'd say 2--4 years) before they start gen 7.

actually now they can release patches and updates the idea of a gen 6 part 2 with more Pokémon doesn't seem farfetch'd at all. so I think it'd be perfectly reasonable. and it'd also increase the number of version exclusives(I doubt they would go as a far as making the new pokémons available in XY outside trading) what would make the sales skyrocket

While I don't think this is true, I do think that generation 7 could come next. They can make Pokemon games a lot faster now, and there's no reason to make a third installment of a game everyone has played. I suspect this new region that they talk about in X and Y will be to Kalos as Johto is to Kanto.
Edit: It's obvious Pokemon X and Y were rushed. When we first got a glimpse of the games in January you could see that it still had a lot of refining needed. I would also like to present the Story arch as proof of this. The story progresses extremely slow, and we don't really get to see what the legendary Pokemon are capable of. Not to mention the third Legendary seems to have no reason to be there, since there doesn't seem to be unbalance between Yveltal and Xerneas in the first place.

yes but that's why I think gen 6 won't end before the third game. XY left a really bad impression where every other gen did right, even though it has its awesome merits(love Pokémon Y) they lack some basic things from Pokémon games, or rather, have those characteristics underdeveloped. I don't think they'll stop before at least giving it another shot, this time around they won't need to worry with new sprites or 3D models(though they might tweak the animations) so they can focus on what's wrong, I mean, not right enough.
