I think I stopped caring about this list once I saw that NSMB2 beat a Professor Layton game. There are also plenty of games to knock Pushmo from a 3DS top 10 list...

I used to travel the stars, then I discovered Earth, and these incredibly addicting things called 'Video Games.'

Here is the sad thing about that list already. NSMB2 Is already on that list so now its already screwed up. And with pushmo that high up on the list you can bet Mutant Mudds and Mighty Switch Force is also up there and I think both shouldn't even be considered. That list is already looking like crap!! Why you ask. Because I don't believe any eshop game compares to the ten best retail titles on offer!!

Which games would those be, in your opinion?

These kinds of lists are always subjective, and what games make your top ten depends upon what you've played and your preferences.

People make these kinds of lists because making lists is fun.

No I consider Unchained Blades a retail title. It's certainly priced as one. My top ten would go like this.

#1 Kid Icarus Uprising

#2 Etrain Odyssey 4

#3 Monster Hunter Ultimate

#4 Fire Emblem Awakening

#5 Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon

#6 OOT

#7 Final Fantasy Theatrhyhm

#8 Resident Evil Revelations

#9 Ghost Recon Shadow Wars

#10 Paper Mario Sticker Star

Plus I still believe Overclocked, Metal Gear, Ace Combat, 3d Land, Mario Kart 7, Tales Of the Abyss, Unchained Blades, Soul Hackers, Castlevaina Mirror of Fate, and I could go on here but I think you get the picture. Plus I also think Crashmo is better then Pushmo and i doubt that will make the list.

I always appreciate Ghost Recon getting some love. It is an absolutely fantastic game.

Still, going by your list, I could say, truthfully, that I've had much more fun playing through Mighty Switch Force than I have Sticker Star. Same with Mutant Mudds, actually. Although the 3DS library is getting so awesome and expansive so quickly that I think before long a top ten eshop games list would be more appropriate.

Still, we're measuring games more by the amount of fun we've had playing them and not necessarily the amount of content, right? Still, I take your point. Most eshop games, while fun, are still relatively brief experiences, and it doesn't feel fair to compare them to full retail games.

Well considering I didn't like Mutant Mudds at all yes. MSF was not one of my favorites either. Let's put it this way. I've put more hours into Zen pinball and Marvel Pinball then almost all those I mentioned combined and I didn't even mention them once
!

Here's your list. It was posted a while back by the same op!

Eshop games have been getting more complex as time goes on, though. If the new Shantae is half as expansive as WayForward is making it out to be, it'll be as content-heavy as your average retail release. Risky's Revenge itself could easily have been a full retail release in the GBA era.

PS: Thanks for the list! If they're making a separate eshop list, then they should leave 3DSware off this list.

Oh I agree and I really also like The Denpa Men and that has a good deal of content as well as Dillons Rolling Western. Both take about 20+ hours to beat even if its a bit repetitive gameplay!

Now that I think about it I would consider Denpa Men retail as well.

I was thinking of Denpa Men. Didn't care for the demo, but it is pretty big for a download-only game, apparently. Fractured Soul and HarmoKnight are other pretty expansive eshop titles.

Would you recommend Dillon's Rolling Western, by the way? It's on sale and I'm on the fence about getting it.

I really wish it had a demo. I liked it a lot but I could see how some people wouldn't like it. If I were you I would wait till The Last Ranger goes on sale since the games are far too similar!

For the record, that other list was an eShop only list that they did a few months ago.

This is a brand new list that encompasses both retail & eShop titles.

If the games are that similar, does it matter which one I get? One thing I notice about most of my 3DSware games is that most of them had had demos that convinced me to buy them. I don't like buying something blindly if I don't know that I'll like it. Thank god Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion had a demo so that I didn't have to waste money on that.

Yeah it matters because I believe the second one has more content and a bit more variety! The funny thing about what I said about it in the forums was also mentioned in the review was its more like dlc for the first game so think of it a little more like the game of the year addition!

However if you play the first the second one is just more of the same except you can hire other rangers to assist you! In the first you did all the work with the exception of the towers!

Thanks, I'll take this information into consideration. Not getting Dillon would free me up to get other stuff I want anyhow, like Tokyo Crash Mobs.

By the way, I like your new Happosai avatar.

I agree. NSMB2 should be higher up on the list. Still, with Revelations at 7 and if Uprising gets 6, NSMB2's placement will look a bit better but I personally don't consider many 3DS titles above it out of the ones I've played.

It is my 15th favorite retail game. Out of 19 thus far. Right behind Kid Icarus: Uprising at 14.

What 3DS games do you consider to be superior to it?

Then you my friend need to play more retail games lol. 2d Mario needs to go away!! To a galaxy far far away!

@Ralizah Thanks. I was thinking of an old man avatar and he was the first dirty old man I could think of!!

@Ralizah Don't get Tokyo Crash Mobs! You'd be better off playing Luxor and avoiding the strange and rather pointless cutscenes.

And I've been getting pretty deep into Revelations lately, since I found it on discount. I would say it deserves #7, at least.

always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)
