Just purchased my first 3ds XL new version of course. I really wanted to play super Mario 64 that was released on the DS. My only option was used. Well I bought the game, but idle if its skipping but the picture will freeze for a second or so every once in a while.
Is it possible to buy defective cartridges? Or is this normal behavior?
@trevor7428 It's certainly possible to buy bootleg DS cartridges, but I've found that 3DS won't play any bootleg DS cards I unintentionally bought (which included a fake Super Mario 64 that didn't work).
So I'm not really helping here, am I. I've never experienced symptoms you're describing.
Try a different physical DS/3DS game first (one that you already own and/or trust, if possible) to see if it experiences the same problems. If it does, then it's the system and not the cartridge. If it's the cartridge, however, then either you have a bootleg or else the previous owner didn't take the best care of it.
Currently playing: Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir (Switch)
@trevor7428 You bought the game used, sorry to say but anything is possible with that. Take it back to whichever store you bought it from if you can. If not, you probably need to just buy another copy. As to Netflix, it will look terrible on the 3DS screen, trust me, I have used it. But you just need to go into the eshop from the home menu and download the app.

Check the metal contacts on the back of the cartridge. If they look dirty, try wiping them with a lint free cloth like eyeglass cleaning sheets. A little tiny dab of high percentage alcohol (like 97%) with the cloth may help if wiping them dry doesn't work.
I love jokes that imply that ponies use the internet.

Also, how do you add Netflix to this thing
You better post the picture of the Front & Back side of your Mario 64 DS Cartridge.
Perhaps we can help to tell the difference between Genuine and Fake copies.
And if you buy from Ebay , make sure you check the User rating procentage (better more than 99%)
