@Scollurio I really don't mean to be hard on you cause I happen to agree with you on Lan parties. They are freakin awesome when you can set them up. I ran an ad in our local Craiglist a few years back to Lan party Dragon Quest IX for some play at the local library. It turned out great we had 13 players to play with. Big But, it was a little creepy as a few young people showed up below the age of 15. It all turned out great and everyone had an awesome time. It was the last time I did that though. I thought it would be a good idea which it was but I am also a 30+ gamer and that was a little creepy
Allright then, friends and no offence taken.
Well you know what I think it's a shame that you have to be ashamed sharing a hobby with all sorts of people of all ages.
If I'm playing I really don't mind age if the player can behave, but for beer and smack talk I really prefer people my age!
You don't happen to live anywhere near Europe huh?
Damn.
nope im in Las Vegas. If you ever get to Vegas let me know we can play Monster Hunter! I wasnt going to buy the game but 2 of my lan buddies did and Im getting it now. it really is a great game although hard. I must have misunderstood you in your post I appologize for that. I did add your Friend Code though
Still playing 3DS but will have Switch soon for multiplayer with friends. I miss you guys! Adam, Joni, Gavin and the rest of the Blue Rogues from the Phantasy Star Zero Days.
Well, hopefully Monster Hunter 4 will give the 3DS owners that option. And I also don't see this as Capcom or Nintendo forcing the buyers to buy both versions just so they can play online. If anything Capcom could've just made a WiiU version and left the 3DS players hanging in the dust.
True, but having to buy an adapter is kind of an insult. It's like saying "Ok, you want to access the internet on you laptop. To do that, you'll need to buy a special cable, and plug it into your desktop to get internet." Really, really, cheap way to get money from the consumer.
Thank You,
I still think it's shameful. I have decided to get the game since 2 of my monday Night Lan Party buds are getting it. But I was not going to buy it just on principle. Monster Hunter to me is best played with some friends and Capcom has made that hard for people who own a 3ds to do so.
Whose going to shell out 400.00+ dollars to play MH online? The question is for people who dont own Wii-U

I would've thought that the one in the 3DS thread was for the 3DS version...
QUEEN OF SASS
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
...You know there's two versions of Ultimate right? lol
Yes I do, but neither of the threads say Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate WiiU or 3DS
...Well this IS the 3DS forum. >_>
Exactly this is the one for the 3DS and the one in the Wii U section is for the Wii U. Yes they are pretty much the same game but some people will only get the 3DS version while some will only get the Wii U and others will get both. Also the controls are different on the 3DS so its easier to keep people from getting confused on which version we are talking about.

Yeah, confusion on the system specific features. Since the 3DS version has Street Pass and downloadable quests (from what I've heard you can't download quests from the Wii U version, you can transfer them from the 3DS though), while Wii U has online. And like Tasuki said, control options.

Also forgot the lack of online on the 3DS as well.

Will there be any streetpass or spotpass features for MHU? I believe @Erica_Hartmann mentioned quests will be sent over? Is that confirmed and is that pretty much it? Not that it's not enough, just wondering...i welcome quests to keep the game going.

Personally, i can't wait to get this day one...
From what I've heard about 3G, the 3DS version has downloadable quests. I'm not sure if the Wii U has them, if it doesn't you have to transfer the quests from the 3DS. Anyways yeah Street Pass is used too, though someone is better off explaining. I think you get the other hunter's character to send them out on "quests", not sure how that works out.

Is it my imagination, or does plesioth seem broken. From time to time he just stops and stays in place for a weird amount of time.
When monsters are out of stamina, they usually show it off somehow. Plessy tends to "phase out" or something and stands there for a bit. Back in Tri Gigginox did the same thing, just sitting there for a bit (though he just does it randomly, since he does something else when low on stamina).

Most monsters start drooling from their mouth they're out of stamina. Others change eye color, usually turning opaque. The obvious sign of fatigue is when the monster falls over on its own.
Monsters that have become exhausted are more susceptible to status effects, traps, stay blinded longer, will sometimes change areas to eat, and if it's weak to Sonic Bombs you can spam them until they go back to their enraged state.
I have to say, after playing MH Freedom Unite (PSP) on the PS Vita, this game looks absolutely beautiful. The dynamic shadows, detailed character and monster models are such an improvement from the previous handheld versions.
Some thoughts on the 3DS game... being able to organize items and view the map on the bottom screen is a great convenience. The only thing I found hard to adjust to is the circle pads placement (above the d-pad compared to below it on a PSP/Vita). But of course it's something I'll get used to. And we WILL be able to customize the touchscreen d-pad to our liking in the full game (both size and position)! It should suffice until I can get a hold of a CPP XL.

Is anyone familiar with tunnelling software (xlink kai, etc.)? last I checked no one had gotten it to work on 3DS, but it someone did we could go online through that.
It does not work, and Kai developers will most likely not support the 3ds due to Nintendo's WiFi connection choices. I asked this question myself because it WOULD be awesome if it worked. I have a wifimax and Kai set up from playing MHF2 on my psp back in the day. I will most likely not buy a Wii U just to play this online
