Topic: Level 5 interested in localizing more titles to the west

I know this is in the 3DS thread, but...

Level 5 have done some fantastic games over the years, so I'd definitely love to see them push lots of their back catalogue onto the Switch, especially Dark Cloud, Dark Chronicle (Dark Cloud 2) and Rogue Galaxy to name a few. But others I'd love to see would include all the No No Kuni games.

A Professor Layton successor has already been confirmed, so that's a great start.

But, I'd pass on all that for a Dark Cloud 3...

However, I don't think they should concentrate on the 3DS. Hint. Hint

Dark Cloud is unlikely. Sony published them.

They should bring...

...wait for it...

FEDERATION FORCE to the Switch!

Giving it another chance with the Metroid reveals people wanted already announced (Samus Returns and Prime 4).

I second this! Not sure how much FF used the touchscreen but they'd just have work around that and make the graphics more home console-esque (at least to a degree, I'm not expecting a full rework here).

As far as I know Level 5 had nothing to with Federation Force. It was developed by Next Level Games and published by Nintendo.

Level 5 is kind of hit and miss in the games that they make. The Layton series is awesome and so is Fantasy Life. Yo-Kai Watch is less so (at least in my opinion). Many of their games are designed to sell anime and spin-off toys to kids in Japan (Little Battlers, Yo-Kai Watch). It almost seems like their real goal is to create multi-media products that can exploited for their merchandising potential rather than to be a top-notch game publisher.

Maybe they are Merch merchants now, but their earlier games were definitely games first and foremost.

@RatKing64 Oops, I confused the 2 studios.

I second Time Travellers and add Girls RPG Cinderellife and The Snack World: Trejarers. Also partner with Capcom to localise Dai Gyakuten Saiban (The Great Ace Attorney).

I wish they stopped ditching franchises just because they have a new one and the last entry wasn't as succesful as they wanted, most of the times because of obvious mistakes made by them. For example LBX, which had everything to be really popular and scratch the medabot/custom robo itch (or any itch related with playing with awesome robots) if they had announced it more and if they had given it online.

You simply cannot have a game where you collect the best stuff to be the best there ever was (in this case robot parts and weapons) and not be able to play with others to actually prove that you are the best there ever was...

It's a shame because it's a robot game with real time battles that allows you to make the robot you want by combining any parts you like. It would have been perfect for me if it wasn't for the lack of online...

Anyway, with Yokai Watch being a thing I really doubt we will ever see an LBX game again.

As a YKW fan, I just hope they bring over Yokai Watch 3 before the 3DS is finally through. Not to say that their other franchises aren't great, they are.

A friend of mine keeps insisting to me that Level-5 / Nintendo "shot themselves in the foot" by making YKW westernized, which would cause "conflicts" with the main character visiting America in YKW 3. I see that as a non-issue and one they can work around. Besides, I believe YKW 3 was in development when they were localizing the first game; they would have already known the potential conflicts that would come up.

But I digress.

@ollietaro You will need the second one localized as well at this point. Also what is the obsession with the Cabaret/hostess game?

@Ryu_Niiyama Of course having the second one goes without saying Not an obsession for the hostess game, but more of a "Why not?" Fanslation of Great Ace Attorney seems to be going well, however, it's currently only accessible for paid copies of the game so I might have to buy a $50.00+shipping for a Japanese game Thanks Capcom!! With that logic, one would donate to the translation team, wouldn't they?

@roy130390 I don't mind about LBX b/c I bought it and played it very little. Yokai Watch has gone as low as $20 and I still decided not to buy it. The Level-5 games I want are Layton and Fantasy Life. Of course I would love a sequel to Layton crossover b/c it actually might get localised. Why are they now interested in 3DS localization this late in its lifespan? I never felt like there was a lack of Level-5 games to begin with.
