Topic: Hold up. Is the 2DS impossible to find new now?

This the problem staying a generation behind. Now that I'm finally ready to buy a 2DS because I want to play Samus Returns, they're all refurbished for like $250. That's insane, and my disappointment is immeasurable.

Most stores where I am had their last sale deals for the system well over a year ago. I was surprised to see stock hanging around some places last year. In 2022 the 3DS line is surely finished.

@Gryffin Yes. Sorry to break the news. 2ds/3ds production ended in like 2018-ish? Then, when the pandemic happened, demand for all gaming consoles skyrocketed. My brother had to pay $300 for a brand new New 2ds XL last christmas. All new ones have been at scalper prices since 2019 or 2020.

The prices are not insane. They are sought-after, collectible, products that are no longer manufactured. Therefore all those in New/Like New condition are very much in dwindling supply. If you want one then best suck up the price and get one while you can. Then look after it and it will pay you back for years to come. Or if you're only after one for Samus Returns then look after it and re-sell it once you're done.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

I guess my assumption was that there were so many sold and that people would be selling them to get a Switch, that there would be a surplus of supply.

@Gryffin you meant pre owned. Yes there’s loads on eBay and Amazon and every shopping game site.

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

@Gryffin You're a year or two behind the times in that respect I'm afraid. Switch is nearly 5 years old, DS line ended nearly 18 months ago.

Yeah I waited too long. I really do enjoy being a generation behind, but next time I need to jump in a little sooner. I'm definitely going to get a 2DS, but yeah I'll have to buy it used and at a premium. If I can find one for $150, I'd be ok with that.

I wish instead Nintendo would port over their most successful games DKCR, Zelda a link between worlds, Kirby, and some of their failures such as pilot wings, Samus returns and federation force.

I got one! $80 used. Runs perfectly. I freaking love it already. I have a huge wishlist on the eShop already. My first major game will definitely be Samus Returns though. I just beat Other M!

Congrats! Glad that worked out. I bought a spare/backup USA 2ds right around the end of production. Since so many games are currently locked to the 3ds line.
