Finally, after 8 years of development and platform changes, Fractured Soul is here. This game is basically a run and gun game that focuses on switching the MC between the two 3DS screens much similar to Chronos Twins. Whether or not the game meets expectations is up to you the Players to decide. So please do feel free to post impressions when you get the chance.

Played around with the first 5 levels and I'm really enjoying this game so far, even if I this game may bend your mind a little. The basic controls for this game is as follows: You move you character with either the DPad or CPad; jump and shoot with the B and Y/A buttons; and switch your MC between screens using the shoulder buttons. Plowing through stages can be easy enough, but the real challenge comes either from getting a 5 star rank(beat the stage under par time, collect all secret trinkets and dont take damage), or getting the best time to compete in the online leader boards. I classified this game as a run'n gun, but so far its more of a puzzle platformer just like Mighty switch force IMO.

So far, I think $12 is justifiable if you're the type who loves to speedrun or if you're in the mood for some puzzle platforming with a mix of run'n gun. Ijust played the first world and have yet to play the shooter stages. Can't wait to play more when I get back. You guys might want to replace your SD cards if you haven't already, this game comes around 2982 blocks, Might I suggest a 16 GB card?

@RR529 There is, but this is the Official Thread.
Edit: Let me make clarify on the post below, The last FS thread was more of an announcement and I dont think it goes against the rules to make another topic on the same game that focuses on a different discussion. Wouldn't you think this thread would be locked already if its topic is the same as the old thread? I've seen many other cases where other games get official threads even if there are other pre existing threads of the same game(Mutant mudds and Mighty Switch force thread come to mind)

^I really don't care (the other thread's not mine or anything), but how is this thread more "official" than the other one? As long as I've been here, the first thread on a particular game is always officiated as it's default thread. What makes this case different?

What do you think OT in this and a few other threads mean. Mostly its put there because the OTb thread's first post usually has a lot of info about said high profile game in a easy to ingest form. Much better for the casuel forum poster than the usual this game is out and time for impressions threads we have.

For example

On related note anyone jnow if nintendolife posts how many blocks a game takes up? That and I love the logo for this game

Are you able to map the controls or are you tied to the L/R shoulder buttons for switching screens? Thanks.

@Sony_70, I think it's supposed to be around 2,900 blocks, but I'm not sure of the exact size (on NWR, they said it was larger than NSMB2).

Blehh run & gun type of game? Glad I skipped this title. Wouldn't be so bad if the graphic's weren't so dark & bleak. Hard to believe they want $11.99 for run & gun type of game. Really glad I skipped this game now.

Thank you for the info!

I like shooter games but not paying that much for e-shop shooter game.

Happy Gaming! (^_^)

This was supposed to be a DS retail game, which would've likely cost around $30 had it come out in time. To be in development for 8 years and ask for only $12 is a mark of generosity.

I have yet to buy it, but it's next on my list.

I just got it. I pretty much agree with NIntendoLife's review. It's really solid and doesn't have any real flaws, and its screen-switching mechanic helps separate it from other games in the genre. The level design is pretty great too, giving you a good challenge without making itself feel cheap. Plus, the content is about what you'd expect, maybe a bit more. It may not be on the same quality level as Super Meat Boy or Outland, but it is definitely a very good game. So far it has been worth the money.

I just got it as well... I keep having to remind myself to look back and forth between the two screens. I really like it though!

Finished the first boss of the sh'mup segments. This game reaches Contra levels of difficulty if you plan to get everything out from a level seriously, I think I spent a huge chunk of my time to 5 star a level in the special courses. This game has been great so far though I have some qualms thus far. First off, in terms of presentation (Art style, music, even UI), everything about it just seems average. They do the job, but in the end they leave little impact to the player. Now for the sh'mup stages, Even if they are fun in their own right, I just feel that they deviate from the actual experience rather than giving a breather.

Other than that, The game still manages to justify the price based on its mechanics alone. I was quite fond of screen switching navigation more so than the run'n gun elements. Considering I played only half the game, I'd say this may take at least 4 hours to beat, but even more hours to fish everything out. Based on my play through so far, this game feels like a strong seven.
