@arronishere: thanks for the heads up, I'm going to do so now so I don't miss out on that Special Edition, I absolutely don't want that to happen. Thanks again!

I'm not sure if I'm gonna get the special edition or not, my sd card is huge and I don't have a collector mentality so it will just depend which way is cheaper and if the fancy edition has an artbook and other knick-knacks to jump up the price.

So is this technically the most recent Fire Emblem chronologically in actual history? Have all the other 14 games taken place in the Middle ages?

Erm, is this a trick question?

Yeah, we all know at the end of Ocarina of Time there's a timeline split so it's doesn't matter when it happened but rather which timeline!!!

I was always under the impression that there are multiple parallel universes with their own representation of the Fire Emblem? Some games are obviously related by references (like Awakening and Shadow Dragon) or are even more direct (like Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn).

Like the Zelda games, I don't try to worry about timeline/dimension stuff too much unless it's obvious that there's a relationship to another game.

In slightly related news, apparently Dark Horse is going to be publishing an art book for Awakening. It's slated for an August release.

Edit: Figures, there's now an article about the art book on the front page. XD

Fire Emblem aren't necessarily alternate universes. They could just be different continents of the same world.

Akaneia (Shadow Dragon, Mystery of the Emblem)
Barensia (Gaiden)
Which then become Valm and Ylisse 2000 years later (Awakening)
Judgral (Genealogy of the Holy War, Thracia 776)
Elibe (Binding Blade, Blazing Sword)
Magvel (Sacred Stones)
Tellius (Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn)

So we know that Barensia/Valm and Akaneia/Ylisse are next to each other. The other four could be around too, especially Magvel and Judgral, which seem to be smaller island continents.

Surprisingly, the description's almost accurate. I have to ask, though... What was the favorite game question for, anyway? I guess of someone chooses Super Mario as his/her favorite series, then he/she enjoys keeping things to their roots and is not bothered 38th repetitiveness, but outside of that I don't really see the use of that question. Just what I think, though.

God first.

God come on guys...please stop spoiling characters and plot here till we actually get the game!!!!! :3

Funny how now play-asia has the special edition sold out. I don't get why many people seem to think that the overall experience is enjoyed if they buy both versions when the game itself doesn't sound like it requires both versions to enjoy the entire story.....

Well I mean technically you do have to buy both to enjoy the entire story. But each part of the story is also enjoyable on its own.

Or so I've been led to believe. Buying both anyway. With only 5 chapters of overlap, it's two different games for all intents and purposes.

@CaviarMeths: The approach here is this. Since both games have a different gameplay, my guess is that story wise, its going to be something that only each version will be. This isn't even like Oracle of Ages/Seasons concept where you need both games to unlock the best ending. At the time, games were encouraged to do something like that because technically speaking, GBC carts couldn't store so much of power. Now with the 3DS, doing something like that is ridiculous because clearly, the 3DS is powerful enough to do it.

The only reason why the edition is expensive is because its bundled with a pouch and an artbook. Remove those two and it can actually become cheaper than that. I mean why else would they include those two in the first place?
